The standard BMW ZF 8 speed autos are one of the best automatics available in the market. The M DCT box, even more sophisticated and able to change gears faster, achieving better 0-60 times, all while increasing mpg. I have not heard of DCT failures yet, they seem pretty reliable. I have test drove an M3 with the DCT it was perfectly fine for heavy stop start traffic. I opted for the manual, but I also wouldn't have regretted the DCT0 -
