Does anyone know how to get files and programs back on to a Lenovo idea pad which crashed and no longer has Office or some of the documents which were previously on it?

There is no backup from before it crashed.0 -
The battery needs recharged and the owner doesn't have the charger with them.0

Hmmm have you tried a system restore (not a Factory Reset type restore) ... How did it crash and how did you get it back working?4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . It needed updates and the battery died while doing this so I didn't get a chance to do much. Apparently it just crashed and someone else got it working as much as it is.0 -
Use TestDisk/PhotoRec to recover data to an external drive and then perhaps Factory Restore.0

Thanks!! :j I don't have the Lenovo at the moment but I will see the owner tomorrow, probably around 6pm or 7pm, so I will try your suggestions then.0 -

Where am I supposed to copy the results of TestDisk to and how do I find out how to correct the problems?
I am going to run TestDisk today again to see if I can get this computer sorted, fingers crossed.0
