Spiders in a house

I seem to be some sort of Queen to Spiders - they are DRAWN to me!!
Always loads in my bedroom, but nowhere else in the house - and no webs either!??
There's always one or two around my bed and I make sure I always shake my clothes before I dress now and there's generally a "thud" most mornings as one hits the carpet and scuttles away!!
There is also a very persistent spider that has set up home on my car's wing mirror - I never see the spider but his / her web is there every morning and I wipe it away, only to find it back again the next day.
The kids think it's hilarious...:o
my wing-mirror spider lives in the back of the adjustable mirror bit.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't belong to the "Sunday morning clean the car" brigade!0 -
I hate spiders, they're one of my fears. Luckily my cats like eating them, so if I spot one that's got in before the cats do, I pick the cats up and set them after it. It's gross and I do feel bad for them, but I can't even bare (bear?) to trap them under a glass. Thanks to my kitties, my house is practically bug free! Back to the OP, I wouldn't judge somebody for spiders in their house, or cobwebs.0

I know some people will think it's cruel or whatever but there's absolutely no way I want them to bite my little ones.
The risk of a spider bite in this country is so small as to be practically zero.0 -
When I first thought about posting this question I must admit that I expected about 5/6 replies saying that they would not believe a persons home was dirty or unclean {as is the way I feel} but I did not expect the amount of views and the way the thread has gone in a few directions. I thank all on here for the replies they have given and the way it has expanded into other thoughts, perhaps in the future I will try and post another madcap question and see what happens then.
As a silver surfer with a lot of time on my hands I enjoy reading the questions and replies on this website and if I think I can aid in any way I do try and give a point of view {perhaps some better than others}. So for now I will let all you happy posters do your house/car checks to see how Webster ect are doing :0)
Thanks again0 -
I am not sure why I even opened this thread as I am absolutely terrified of spiders and now I feel sick and am looking round the living room in case one is lurking.
I keep reading about how big they are this year (why do the papers have to put a picture of a spider when we all know what they look like?) but so far luckily there have been none in my house.
I get OH to catch them and put them outside but if he is not around then I cannot go into the room where one is until he is back and catches it.
I could never ever live in an old house or a thatched house because of the spiders. A friend of mine lives in an old cottage and I rarely go to her house as she has lots of spiders indoors and I just cannot relax thereThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

Just been inmy daughter's garden inspecting her half dead plants and every step I took she was saying, 'watch our, there's a spider'. Garden was full of them and she has had two monster ones in the house so far. I haven't had nay yet but weirdly i get a couple of slugs on my kitchen tiles every night. No idea how they get in."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Genuine question her to those who are frightened of spiders - what exactly is it that you are afraid of??? Now I could understand it if we had the Funnel Web spider, Brazilian Wandering spider, Black Widow etc, but ours are totally harmless!0
