I have spent the morning gathering conkers to put on the windowsills and in the corners!
Supposed to repel spiders :-)

I seem to be some sort of Queen to Spiders - they are DRAWN to me!!
Always loads in my bedroom, but nowhere else in the house - and no webs either!??
There's always one or two around my bed and I make sure I always shake my clothes before I dress now and there's generally a "thud" most mornings as one hits the carpet and scuttles away!!
There is also a very persistent spider that has set up home on my car's wing mirror - I never see the spider but his / her web is there every morning and I wipe it away, only to find it back again the next day.
The kids think it's hilarious...:o
Yes we have one as well, it's been there for weeks! I have loads of spiders in the house, one set up home in the corner of the living room, great for catching daddy long legs, we called him Webster. We also have this enormous web in the porch just by the front door, with a giant sized spider sitting in the middle of it, he was doing a repair job on his web this morning

Our house definitely isn't spotless :embarasse and we rarely get any spiders, which is fine by me
.
We haven't really had any since we had bamboo flooring through the living room, hall, stairs and landing. Maybe the same effect as putting conkers in corners?0 -
My place is full of them  my mum always had a saying "if you want to live and thrive let the spider stay alive" sorry mum but those big brown spiders must die. I have no cobwebs in my house though which is weird cause in the last 2 weeks i must have killed 20 at least. Where are they coming from?0

We find that conkers work, well has worked in previous years. We collected a load yesterday, there are ready to repel any sneaky spiders.
There was a monster on the window earlier this week. Outside,,they're fine. Not in my bedroom.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
Last autumn we got so many spiders in our flat it was like a biblical plague...if you left an item of clothing on the floor you could be certain that when you picked it up a huge hairy monster would be trying to hibernate underneath it.
We haven't really had many In the house this year though, we've got a cat now and he considers spiders a great delicacy.0 -
'If you want to live and thrive, let a spider run alive'
My mum always said this when I was younger, not sure where it comes from.
I have so many come into my little post war bungalow but we are build into a hillside with bushes and plants close to us.
I have a spider catcher which does not harm them so I can put them outside. Inevitably they do come back in.
I use a long handled feather duster to get rid of webs and keep my little home clean sooo
No I don't think it is indicative of peoples cleanliness, they keep the flies at bay0 -
I like spiders and always feel sorry for the tiny ones. The harvest spiders are great fun when they stand with their hands on their hips in the middle of the sitting room shouting 'Come on if you think you're hard enough'..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
