    Good afternoon :)

So I am famous :rotfl: my thread on being poor and matter of perspective made it into the weekly e-mail :D

Boring day yesterday, nothing exciting happened, I went to work, did the hoss, made up haynets, I know with all the excitement I need a lie down :rotfl:

So today been spendy. I have got some extra hay for the hoss £12, had £2 in change so £10 out of hoss food budget. £20 for farrier got ready as have £5 already at home so £7 underspend already :)

Good thing really as I have booked in for a haircut this weekend. Just £20. I havent had it cut and coloured for ages and is in desperate need. I have been sent some home colour to test from a survey site so got 2 boxes of that so just need a trim before I can colour.

I also have the saddler out next monday to see on sizing. I dont think she will grow much more so time to get a saddle. I do have a saddle but dont think it will fit and friend will have it. Sharing call out with friend so should be ok. If friend buys saddle that will be an extra £50 in the pot so should cover call out and hopefully a few extra pennies. Just need to make another target now

    Target 1 - Insurance Savings overspend £156 - £10.68

    Target 2 - Cambelt servicing £589
    Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!
    Mortgage 13-1-25 - £63K

Good morning, its friday and sunny :)

Another mystery shop completed, hopefully net some more amazon vouchers just to wait and see when they arrive.

Budget sorted in bills account for the month and I have transferred over some of the savings for council tax etc to the insurance overspend so now nearly completed. Just £33 to find. Am due some survey cash so can use that and that will be completed. Then to move onto the cambelt target then back to original targets.

Slowly slowly but at least not building up any more debts :)

    Target 1 - Insurance Savings overspend £156 - £123 :)

    Target 2 - Cambelt servicing £589
    Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!
    Mortgage 13-1-25 - £63K

    Good morning :)

The naughty horse with the abscess, it got dug out, he now has half a hoof missing! He had a defect from a previous abscess from his coronary band downwards, the vet/farrier wanted to cut out this defect so he could grow fresh new hoof, unfortunately cant cut high enough (its right up to his coronary band) so they have cut out half a hoof so the mud can get freely in and out and friend just cleans out with diluted iodine hoof spray each day, least no more bandaging. Unfortunately looks like will always have a defect so need to be ultra careful with no mud getting in again.

So weekend, £20 on haircut, £5 on top up of groceries of fresh veg etc. Few more bits tidied in the house.

Rode my horse for the first time properly on sunday, just 10 mins round the road and another 10 in the school so very good, here is picture :D Excuse me I look very dodgy!

So finances (the boring but ever so important bit!)

Sofa payment out so now at £209, last ebay payer paid up and some survey money landed so target 1 now up to £128 :) Still awaiting more money but always takes ages to land.

    Target 1 - Insurance Savings overspend £156 - £128

    Target 2 - Cambelt servicing £589
    Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!
    Mortgage 13-1-25 - £63K

    Good morning :)

So small spends yesterday, £4 in waitrose in fresh bits, I have been sent 10% of voucher for october for waitrose so taking advantage. Still under budget for groceries, will probably need to do top up in next few days of fresh bits.

Ebay sale last week, buyer didnt pay, got final fee back offered second chance and paid last night so another £5.48 sent to CC this am.

Mortgage statement thro so signature updated, less money to find to buy ex out. Another mortgage payment out today so another bit knocked off.

Looks like reading the statement pay of capital around £5-6k a year.

My original goals was to buy ex out. I needed to get the mortgage down to say £100k and find £30k to buy him out. I have given him £5k already and the mortgage already down, think I need to update my signature again with the goals.

Is all the buying out of the ex being documented somewhere? You don't want to pay him a load only for him to say "nope, still half my house!"

My brother bought my ex out of the house for £20,000 and now I'm planning on buying my brother out (not yet, in next year or so) for £100,000 yikes!

Just read through all your diary and just want to say well done.

Have noticed the horrible comments and I say just ignore them. Like you say, you don't spend money on other places besides your "hoss," why do you call him this by the way? Is it an accent thing? Ie where you are in the country?

At least you are trying to get out of debt rather than sticking your head in the sand.

Whereabouts in the country are you by the way? I used to ride horses with my school, but could never see myself being a lifelong rider though. They scare me a bit, but I guess if you know the horse, they're not scary if that makes sense.

I'm not in debt but spend a lot of time on this website just to avoid getting in debt. Im saving like mad as I will be (hopefully) taking on what is to me a super huge mortgage (and I'm a single mum to two kids so doing it all by myself also).

    Good morning :)

Pollyanna thanks for dropping by :) Good luck with your goals sure you can do it, you are very brave :)

No reason why call horse an hoss/hossie, just me, not an accent thing, come from surrey so very boring, definitely not posh just normal (if there is such a thing) :rotfl:

Some hossies scare me too, I like one with brakes and not too big, new one slightly bigger than planned but not too bad, am not a brave rider just want something so I can chill out with :)

The trying to get out of debt seems to be a bit stalled at the moment, am still making the minimum payments but unfortunately due to me trying to be sensible and paying for big bills upfront rather than add to debt and a few unforeseen expenses not able to make any overpayments. At least not getting into any more debt.

Was good last night and listed some new ebay stuff, took advantage of free listings and re-listed all didnt sell. Still have a mountain and a half of items to sell but slowly slowly leaving my house.

So its my birthday on sunday :D So friend up for the weekend of to the theatre on saturday, already paid for, money put aside for train and dinner out. Sunday having family round for dinner. So decided on turkey as still got leftovers from xmas in the freezer, had hair brained idea to have a mini christmas. So I have found an xmas pudding, managed to get for £6 some crackers and started laying the table yesterday and found santa napkins :rotfl: So I need to get sprouts, mini sausages for pigs in blankets (already have bacon) and some mince pies. I have received £10 voucher for Mr S so going to see if I can get today. All the rest of the dinner I have at home already. May get some tinsel out as well just to get into the spirit. It will be a surprise to all bar one so should be good fun :D

Defo worth getting the cam belt done. I didn't even realise they had to be changed. And so on one of my cars, it just snapped and it would have cost too much to have replaced it as it kinda wrecked the whole car by snapping.

So when I got another car, I replaced the cam belt straightaway. Don't remember it costing as much as you have to pay though

I'm useless with cars. Since 2009 when I started driving (had my licence since 2000, but lived in or near London so never needed to drive), I've had:-

Ford Fiesta - totalled this - also broke my neck while 6 months pregnant, eek!

Alfa Romeo - this is the one the cam belt snapped on

Ford Fiesta - I like Fiestas, what can I say, haha.

Fiat Punto - the head gasket or something went on the Fiesta.

So four cars in six years, is that a lot? Really gotta stop buying bangers.

    Hi BB,

Have read your diary and have enjoyed it. Fair play to you, you sound very determined. I can understand why you don't want to get rid of the horse, although personally I don't think I could accept that amount of cash from my parents each month, and save for a holiday while knowing they are subsidising you each month. But you both seem happy with the arrangement so each to their own!

How is the lodger hunting going? I think that would make huge inroads into your debt and really allow you to snowball it. As it stands it seems like any little emergency could tip you back further into the red, which would be an awful shame. Would taking a second job be an option for you, just in the short-term?

It's hard to see how an end to the debt will ever be in your sight if you don't make a few sacrifices. For you it isn't the horse, but what about compromising on living on your own, or taking the second job?

I think it's only a matter of time before your ex starts looking for his share of the house. If I were the other woman I certainly wouldn't be happy knowing my partner had equity tied up in another property. Particularly if we wanted to settle down together.

I hope you don't view my words as being too harsh. I am just being realistic, I think a few things need to change for you in order for you to emerge debt free. Unfortunately when you have the level of debt you have, you can't have it all. For me, we've had to sacrifice holidays abroad since 2012. Holidays and travelling are a huge passion for us, but we had to just accept that we can't do it until the debt is gone. Took me about 6 years to see sense, but I can see the debt going down now and it is worth it.
