do you think anyone would mind ?- After all It is the land of the Free?"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170 -

I don't think it's her regular place of worship, but the family have always gotten married in this church, and she wants to carry on that tradition.
Unfortunately it seems that some major administrative changes have taken place since the last family wedding, meaning she's no longer able to.0 -
What did your parish priest say when you told him about your engagement? Do you think he might be disappointed that someone from his congregation won't be getting married in his church? I thought that was an important church tradition, especially in the Catholic creed.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

ahh I see - what a shame. I can see why you would want to marry there, given the family history and all. I would take it further if possible, but not sure howWith love, POSR0

The email was probably from a uni admin person. I'd definitely try the personal approach before kicking it further up the food chain.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

It may still be possible to do it. I have a uni friend who was in a similar situation - he wanted to get married in the chapel at his old school (where he met his now-wife) and initially wasn't able to - so I can ask him how they got round that if you want.
Otherwise, if you can't get this church, is it possible to have it in another church that's important to your family - maybe the one where you/your parents regularly attend Mass? I know it's not exactly the same but it would still have that family connection."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I think that enrolling for a qualifying course is the best way forward...
The catholic church is very firm about its rules, and kicking the matter further up the chain is likely to lead only to repeated 'no's and further disappointment. The suggestion to discuss the matter with your own priest is a very good one, however, as is the suggestion to make personal contact with the catholic chaplain and let people know what you are doing. In the end, though, I think that you will need to enroll for some course of study in order to get permission.0 -

Forgive my scepticism, but this is organised religion we're talking about, so if all else fails......All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
