  • Hi

Please don't shoot me down! My elderly parents have received the same letter from Miah and are now doubting my advice to ignore the original parking ticket. My mum picked up a new car and forgot to put disabled disc in (my father has a valid blue badge). Is it a matter of just ignoring this letter as my parents are now becoming very anxious. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

#1 This is not your thread - please start your own if you need specific advice. (But see #2 first).

#2 Everything you need to know is in (or linked from) the NEWBIES sticky thread.

    NO.

Read post 41, thought it was clear?

And then search the forum for 'Miah' as the obvious keyword. Sit down and READ about them and you will find Blissikins thread. I won't link it as that doesn't help people find their way around the forum.

If you can't cope with this drivel yourself (and it is drivel from a dodgy firm of solicitors, read up on them!!) then pay £16 to PTA to take it out of your hands and deal with it - they love these ones. Easy as pie (and no I am not one of the forum members which runs PTA).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

First of all I would just like to say thanks for reading this threat and would appreciate any help in this matter.

I received a letter today from 'The Miah Solicitors' notifying me that they have been instructed by a client - UKCPS in connection with an outstanding parking charge. The letter details my car registration, the time and place of offence and a ticket number.

The parking event is described as 'The land where the vehicle was parked had various conditions for restricted parking, whereby, parking fully complying to a specific condition, you contractually agreed to pay a parking charge plus any additional charges incurred as a result of non payment.'

It also goes on to say that there was an initial charge of £100 and as this has not been paid I need to make a payment of £275 which included legal fees within 14 days of the this letter.

The letter also does not refer to any other letters with dates and or references

The parking charge notice was due to the vehicle being parked in a disabled bay within a private gym car park. Now I have been looking through several threads on this forum today and I am overwhelmed with the amount of information available. However I am unsure as to what action I should take. Should I just ignore the letter or appeal it by writing to the solicitors firm.

I did read somewhere on this forum that parking on a disabled bay in a private care park - does not require you to display a blue/disability badge and therefore the penalty is no enforceable?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

It would appear I have recieved the exact same letter. Mine is in reference to a parking ticket I recieved in October 2012. The ticket was issued because we parked and left the site to shop elsewhere. We did use the shops local to the carpark before we left.

When I recieved the ticket back in 2012 all the advice on here was telling me to ignore the ticket, so I did, and we heard nothing until now (23rd September 2014). Any advice would be great.

Thought the post above yours and post #41 was clear advice for anyone?

As far as I can see to Miah's
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

    Hello,
Obtaining money by false pretences enforced by harassment and abuse of law
    NOTE THIS :
I refuse on principle to address my email letter to any form of debt recovery address, owing not a penny to man or beast!!!
It is incumbent on a UK registered company to ensure their business model and thus their business operations are lawful.
But, prior to your letter DCUKCPS2115560 received today, Monday 25/07/16 I have been harassed by two written attempts within a six month period to obtain money by false pretences for some supposed parking offence which I am unable to commit, because unable to drive nor ever having owned a car!
Why would the company you represent be willing to commit the criminal offence of demanding money by false pretences, and with the certainty that it would be unlawful harassment to pursue the claim especially when then expecting to back it up with the menace of an increasing debt enforceable by what must be considered unlawful submission to law for recovery of a non-debt?
Rather than put the effort and cost into knowing their clientele in order to have and to lawfully sustain the non-law-breaking business model demanded by law?
And how can you as registered solicitor SRA 612587 continue to act for a company that you know to have committed criminal offences by this adoption and continuance of an unlawful business model?
There is absolutely no doubt that your lack of due diligence regarding how this company operates, yea criminally, makes you wittingly complicit in the crimes of obtaining money by false pretences contrary to The Theft Act 1968, backed-up by harassment in contravention of The Prevention of Harassment Act 1996.

    Sincerely

Why did you resurrect a near-2 year dead thread to post that?
