I've saved about £180 - but saying that I don't know where I used to get the money from, I can't get any money at the moment till my husband pays in the shopping money on 26th! Somehow always found the money for them my addiction was so strong.

  • Guys don't let this thread die, we're so close to getting through the first month it would be such a shame not to keep the stories going.

Firstly, well done to everyone, so far it hasn't been easy, but hopefully it is all easing up a little bit.

The start was a real struggle to break routine, and I'm still thinking about smoking every single day, morning and night, but its great to say 'No'.

I've probably only saved about £30 or so, but that is a weeks diesel. What I am pleased about is I've not smoked around 170 roll ups.

Keep up the great work, we haven't all got this far to go back now. This is our opportunity to show how strong we are, and how we don't need nicotine any more.
  • Hello jayjay21 - I don't know about you but I feel really spaced out and forget to come on here! Day 22 and I am using the e cig a lot today but I don't want to go outside and 'smoke' at all. Must find somewhere for my patch at bedtime though, have a collection on the side of the box, disgusting!

Keep it up everyone, we don't need to stand outside in the cold this winter - or next winter - or ever again!

    Cheers!

  • Hi Andrea, I don't know where I used to get the money from - at £9 per day x 24 I've now saved £216.00. My daughter has just gone off to Uni which spurs me on, she needs the money for books!

  • I have failed twice again this week. So disappointed with myself. I will keep trying. I hope the thread carries on for months to come.

Well done to everyone who has stuck to it. I hope you are proud of what you have achieved this month. I hope you have bought yourself something nice to reward yourselves with.

Don't beat yourself up Woodster76 I've been enjoying smoking and not suffering for 40 years but have used all our savings over the past three years because of the massive price increases - if my husband hadn't saved our daughter wouldn't have been able to go to Uni. Every cigarette is now 50p you could spend on something much nicer, as well as keeping your teeth - I'm losing my bottom front teeth because of the gum disease I've had forever through smoking. Not a good look, I've stopped smiling. How daft is it for me to smoke!!!

I make a habit of being late for everything, have spent all October fighting the give up/one lasf packet fight. Stopped today. I suppose Day 1 is better than "I will do it tomorrow".

Good for you Toontron, my biggest regret is not giving up sooner before my teeth were ruined, as a woman having 'smoker's teeth' is very humiliating. The horrible weather is coming and standing outside in the rain is just so awful - I'm using a patch and an e cig and although I could kill someone, haven't smoked for 25 days after a 40 year addiction.
Good luck and just unthink that you ever smoked.
