Yesterday I started to scribble on the table runner with gold thread.....big mistake.......thread kept breaking, in the end I was getting so frustrated I could have thrown both the machine and the runner out the window, so walked.
I have decided to undo what I had done and re do it in old gold ordinary thread. It will have to wait till I find enough energy to undo whats already done.
Running out of ideas, market stall is booked for 4 weeks today......hheelllppppppp.........................0 -
Deleted_User it is so frustrating when things don't go right, those metallic threads can be tricky. Hope you manage to get things done for your stall. Will try to get to my machine tonight. I'm off to a Quilt Show in Bristol with some friends tomorrow, we've not been to this one before so we are checking it out. Don't really need anything but if I see cheap backing material I will get some.

Yay, the runner is quilted. It took me 3 days to unpick the scribble, I just have to sew down the binding and its ready to be sold!!
I am going to do a few Christmas trees from 8" circles next.0 -
Well done Deleted_User unpicking is not an easy task. Have seen some lovely quilts today and bought a few bits so have had a good day. Now I really need to crack on or else Christmas will be here and nothing will be finished.

Sorry, I've been rubbish at posting, and quilting if truth be known but those of you who read the daily will know I've had a bit of a frantic time recently.
I've finished the machine quilting on the Christmas hanging and am now doing the hand embellishment. I bought myself a rhinestone applicator at Lidl this week so I shall try that on the Christmas trees I think. I'll let you know if it's any good.0 -
Deleted_User those are lovely. Snoozer no need to apologise, we all have hectic lives and don't get to sew as much as we'd like. Congratulations on your daughter's engagement, does that mean you have to make a wedding quilt? Did a bit of hand sewing at my quilting group yesterday, I am now membership secretary, luckily not too much paperwork involved as despite years of teaching it was not my forte. Have tidied up my sewing nook so no excuse not to get on and DH is cooking dinner.

Thanks Miffy.
I cut out a reindeer toy decoration yesterday afternoon. I made a booboo because I forgot the seam allowance (I wish pattern makers would add it instead of saying add 6mm) so it will be a little smaller than it should.
The rhinestone applicator worked very well - I'm just wondering if I put too many baubles on the Christmas tree applique. However, I'm a great believer that a Christmas tree shouldn't be tasteful so I'm happy with it.
I need to do a repair job, not quilting at all. My favourite duvet cover has developed a hole in the underside so I need to replace that with a sheet I've got. It should be fairly straightforward apart from deciding how to replace the strip of poppers, I just need to get on with it.0 -
I've been busy making mini Christmas trees. The original template was from Homemaker magazine. I ended up making my own as I didn't like the fabric supplied with the kit at all, so I've used that as a template and now I have a mini forest!
I'm even going to give a few away, I've never given anyone anything I've made before (other than my husband) so I'm a bit nervous about it.0 -
Have decided to make Mum's present a runner for the table as she started talking about making one herself. She got a bit bossy about colours but I put my foot down so I can use the lovely blues I bought - she'll use that more than one with just Xmas colours I think. So it'll be 5 12" squares with 2" sashing and borders. I can't post it on Flickr cos she looks at that! I'll post it after Xmas.
Also planned to make some bunting with Xmas fabric but I don't appear to have any - could have sworn there was some in my stash! So I might have to buy some oops!
I like those blocks csarina, simple but effective:)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
