Well done rosyqI think basting is the hardest part. Hope the quilting goes well. Spent the afternoon with a lovely group of ladies and made good headway with my blocks. It's lovely to meet with other crafters and share ideas and help.

Off to Llantrisant today to our favourite fabric shop. Note to self.......... You do not need any more fabric ! Lunch out with friends too, so no sewing until later. Hope everyone has a good day.

Did not get to play with the cutter, I have unpicked the snail trail from the back of the wall hanging, replaced the bobbin thread with deep red, done the front with gold, all finished. Now I have to sew down the binding, another one done.
Changing to Christmas stockings now.0 -
Sounds good Deleted_User I quite like sewing on the binding. Haven't done any more blocks but will do some this evening.
Yesterday I bought a reel of Aurifil thread, I want to see if it's as good as everyone says. I usually use thread that I buy from Empress Mills also Gutterman and Coats cotton. What threads do you guys use ?

Miffy, I usually use gutermann cotton for piecing (colour 927 on the whole). I use different things for the quilting depending on the finish I want, variegated Gutermann sulky cotton, King Tut cotton and Madeira rayon have all been used in different projects. I must admit I prfer to use cotton most of the time because I piece in 100% cotton and use cotton batting so I think it would be odd not to use cotton thread.0

Hi snoozer like you I tend to use cotton as I only piece with cotton too. I share a Janome and quilt frame with a friend and we tend to use Superior Thread on that as it runs very fast. I bought some variegated Sulky to quilt the quilt I am working on at the moment. Went to my quilt group AGM today and ended up on the committee. Saw some lovely quilts but I didn't win the challenge:)
I tend to make modern quilts and most of the group, like more traditional stuff. Never mind .....onwards and upwards. Too tired to do any more quilting tonight but need to set the blocks out tomorrow before sewing them altogether. Hope everyone has some time to quilt over the weekend.

Hi I use cotton threads too although I do use polyester wadding. I'm interested that you use one colour for most of your piecing snoozer, how does that work?
I tend to quilt with variegated thread because I like the effect and I'm not very precise with straight lines so it's better if there's something to take the interest away from that :rotfl:
I've run out of thread for DS quilt halfway through  so I've ordered some online but it won't come till Wednesday. This is a steep learning curve for me! Will always make sure I buy lots of thread in future!
Might try and decide what to do for Mum's quilt while I'm waiting for that. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
