More people vote Tory in England than up here, by a mile.0 -

But then as I said, I live in a town that used to be thriving and was destroyed by Thatcher, massive unemployment over the last 22 years, 3 and 4 generations of people who have never worked so Im afraid Im voting yes and nothing will change my mind on that.
The town I live in is Labour ruled, the majority of Labour party members with a few exceptions are out campaigning for the no vote, but my local Labour MP cant be bothered with his constituents either. Ive never historically voted SNP, but last year I had some massive issues going on and the only MSP who cared enough to try and sort them out was an SNP MSP, my local Labour MSP could not be bothered. As per usual.
Having said that, Im not the biggest fan of Salmond, but thats not why Im voting yes. I want away from the Tories and if we dont do it now, its going to be a long time before we get that chance again.
Live in a poor town like mine that used to be thriving until Thatcher closed the steelworks and people might understand why myself and my family are yes voters.
And proud to be so.
I live in a town that was destroyed under Thatcher as well. It was a mining town. The mines closed. Then peripheral industries went under too. I do understand Scottish angst, I do believe that Scotland should be permitted to run their own affairs and believe in devo max.
But, and yes, it is purely selfish, if Scotland leaves the union, the Conservatives will get their EU referendum and as things stand we'll leave the EU. My employer has already told all of us that if we leave the EU, they will sell up their UK branch and leave because it will be no longer viable for them. This, obviously, damages me quite significantly.
So, while I don't have a say on the subject, while I do respect whatever Scotland decides, you can understand why a decision that is completely out of my hands has a negative knock-on effect to me.0 -
Do some damage to labour if they do go.0

People discussing matters that may have an impact on their families seems quite a reasonable topic for discussion on a families board though.

I think it will be a narrow NO
But I would like it to be a YES.
It is shameless how Cameron & the other two fools are out promising allsorts. Just as with every election, a barrage of promises which will never manifest.
In my opinion the YES team needed to have given more explanation and assurance as to how things would run. Shown example of public services in Scandinavian countries for example. They have't answered peoples queries & confusion & explained how all will be OK . Great shame. It will be a lost opportunity for the people of Scotland to start afresh from the lies & silly games in Westminster.0 -

Yeah, there just aren't enough threads about the Scottish Referendum in Discussion Time :rotfl:0 -
I reckon its too close to call at the moment but suspect yes by a whisper.
I married into a clan, and would love to see Scotland go independent purely for the fact it will finish labour in england for decades which can only be a good thing. (for me)0 -
I suspect no, by a small-ish amount.
I won't go into who said what and who has done what. I have seen nasty spiteful behaviour from both sides and I for one will be glad when it's over. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
