No you dont want to be unwell for hospital
Is it far to travel to work?

No, it's literally just down the road. I can park there for the next couple of days too, which will save me walking in.

  • Aww, I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling ill, Emz:sad:.
Probably a combination of being tired from so much work and being in such close proximity to so many people. Colds seem rife at the moment and impossible to avoid unless you are a hermit:(.
I went to our Doctor's this morning to pick up OH's repeat prescription from the Pharmacy and the waiting-room was packed with people coughing and sneezing. I dread to think what I've caught in the few minutes I was there:eek:.

Good idea to turn down any extra hours for the next few weeks, please don't feel guilty about doing it.

    Take care

    Thanks CBC.

I'm in work now and feel like death warmed up. Honestly thought I was going to pass out earlier on. Only 4 hours 15 minutes to go!!

    Thanks INOD and Lou :)

I made it, but feel even worse this morning. Only 6 hours to do today and my extra hours are over. I made it clear to my manager that I wasn't going to be taking any extra for the foreseeable future.

If I had a pound for each person that asked me 'do you have a cold?' yesterday, then I wouldn't need to work at all!!

Sorry you are still feeling poorly, Emz, but in a few hours you'll be able to put your feet up and relax:beer:. Sorry the only suitable smilie is beer-related. You probably feel more like having a Lemsip or something!

Several years ago I had an executive-level job and my role didn't involve dealing with clients on the phone. Because of circumstances I had to clarify certain aspects with a few clients after they'd already dealt with someone else:mad:. I had a lousy cold at the time and whenever I get one I always lose my voice:(. I vividly recall no fewer than 3 of the men I had to phone telling me what a sexy voice I had. The huskiness obviously was a turn-on:rotfl:. This was in the '80s, long before political correctness, and I felt rather chuffed actually:o.

    Take care x

I got through my shift. My nose is red raw and I had a really tickly cough for the last 4 hours or so, which I couldn't shake. Some customers gave me really dirty looks as I served them, as if I was infecting them.

I really don't know what M&S would prefer - me to call in sick, or struggle in and cough all over their customers . I also know that this is just the beginning - it's only going to get worse from here on in :(

Please promise that you'll put your own well-being before that of M&S. I know you'd do anything rather than let anyone down:A but it's not as if you are just phoning in out of the blue to say you can't work. Your line manager and colleagues will already know you are ill and have been soldiering on despite everything. Maybe most people could shake off a bad cold quickly but your health issues (which your superiors must have known about before offering you the job) make your situation very different.

With your hospital appointments looming you need to make sure you get rid of this cold as soon as possible. You said yourself that it's likely to get worse and I can't see how struggling in to work will help anyone, most of all you. If you're anything like me, a tickly cough means a very disturbed night's sleep:eek: and tiredness doesn't help the recovery process.

Sending lots of virtual hugs your way:kisses3:
