Glad you saw your GP and that he's given you something to kick-start your recovery:T. There's been a lot of bad press recently about the over-use of antibiotics so maybe GPs have been given strict guidelines about prescribing the absolute minimum:eek:. Presumably you can go back for more after the initial course if they haven't worked. All a lot of hassle though when you are ill.
At least you can have a good rest today with no work to go to:).0 -
Finally got through to the hospital and have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at 2pm. Told my boss and she has asked me to call her afterwards to update her.
I'm thinking it might be best to go sick at the weekend and then I wouldn't have to work until Wednesday and Thursday evening next week. Those shifts would only be 3 hours each, so it would ease me back into it and then I've got the following Saturday off as leave anyway.

It has been like that for a number of years. One upon a time, you got two weeks, then it was cut to a week, then down to 5 days. Five days is de-facto 10 days as I find I always have to go back and ask for another lot.

OH had to see his GP for an infected toe last week and was given 7 days' supply. No improvement so far and is having to limp back for more tomorrow:(0 -

Thanks everyone :A
I get that they are trying to limit the antibiotics they give out, but I'm a bit different. I'm on 3 different types permanently anyway, so when I get ill, I need stronger ones to get better again. I know the hospital will give me at least 10 days worth, maybe even 3 weeks worth. Think I'll forget the GP next time and just go directly to the hospital.

Yes, talk to Jim Hensen and not Big Bird - as they used to say..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Looks as if Andy has secured his place in London by beating Dimitrov today in Paris. It doesn't matter what his rivals do now, he appears to be safe. A bit of good news to cheer you up a bit:j
I hope you have a better night x0 -

Yep, he has guaranteed his place at the O2
He was very impressive in his match today - back to his best I would say. Gives me hope that he might actually beat Djokovic tomorrow (if Monfils doesn't beat him tonight).
Ferrer won his match very easily too.

Evening
Spent an enjoyable () 3 hours at the hospital this afternoon getting a probably deserved lecture about respecting my limitations. Consider me suitably told off!!
They've caught the chest infection in the early stages, so it should be quite easy to fight off. I've got stronger antibiotics now for 14 days. I'm due back on the 17th November, when they will be putting a needle device in my back to measure my blood sugar levels over the course of 4 days. I'm so looking forward to that happening!!
My weight has dropped, which they suspect might be to do with me starting work. Working full days (as I have been) = having to fit meals around work = less snacking in between meals = less calories being taken in.
Basically the upshot of the visit was NOT to take on any extra hours. I'm to stick to my 18.25 hours a week and get into a routine with my treatments, medication and eating pattern. Obviously they can't insist I do that, but I will follow their advice.
I spoke to my boss and she said I should stay off for the weekend and call her on Tuesday to give her an update.
I hardly got any sleep last night, so I'm glad I don't have to go into work at 9am tomorrow morning!!
Emz xx
(FAO CBC - just watched Murray lose- I hope Ferrer can beat Nishikori
