So, is anyone doing anything alternative this christmas?
By alternative, i mean, is anyone celebrating christmas in a non traditional way, or going on holiday for the festive season?
Id love a festive holidayWith love, POSR0 -
There is a heavy discount because of Christmas time, think about Black Friday, Boxing day sales. Without Christmas I doubt there was such a heavy discount
You do know Black Friday is an American import based on the timings of Thanksgiving?
And most items self in January sales etc is the tat that is only brought out in the run up to the Big Spending Event with the price ramped up to Max so what ever is left over can be sold as a 'bargain' afterwards.0 -

I joined an adult education 'singing group', little realising that I'd joined a [STRIKE]clique of oddballs recruited from Central Casting[/STRIKE] group of delightful ladies who happily sing at Christmas carol concerts.
I'm learning for the first time and they're just going over three versions of Away In The Manger (THREE!?), a couple of different versions of Silent Night and each week there are more to learn.
There are homework tutorials available on Facebook - the tutor keeps promising to email me links but never does, there's one woman who boldly goes off on her own 'interpretation' of the harmonies putting the people around her off (me included) and the 'harmonies' are flaming painful.
These lessons are torture and I'm paying a fiver a week to practice my singing...
I'll be so glad when this is over.
I lied.
There are four versions of Away in the FLAMING Manger but the fourth, jazzier version needs a lot more work.
[STRIKE]We [/STRIKE]They won't be singing that until Christmas next year.
Not only were we subject to Christmas carols from the first day of the Autumn term, I've had to join Faceache to get the SODDING lessons....
Next year, I'm doing Maths....:( Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Urghhhhh. Time to get up. Have to go to the shops it will be heaving :eek:Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0

So do we. Arrived down under this morning. Airline had made an effort and put Christmas decorations up in the aeroplanes.0 -

I think you are mixing it up between clearance item and heavily discounted price on Black Friday and Boxing day.
Clearance item is the item left in the stock (e.g from the season for instance) and need to be cleared to prepare a new room for items on the new season. You might find the one on clearance items are not suitable for the season, it is only a few left, you could not get your size, model, range, color you want, etc.
While the one on heavily discounted price on Black Friday and Boxing day could be the newly stocked item. For instance on the last Black Friday a lot of people get 5TB external HDD for £99.00 on Amazon and or John Lewis, Argos. You will never find such new item on clearance sale.0 -
Ugh hating Christmas. My niece is getting an iPad from all her aunts and uncles - it's something she's wanted for years and will be a huge surprise for her and I know she'll appreciate it.
Mentioned to someone at work that we'd bought it and was told "oh we got child an iPad and an iPhone and Netflix subscription and a tv for her room and £200 worth of bits, I'd be disappointed if all I got was an iPad". !!!!!! it's £50 a couple and niece in question is still in primary school, she's the same age as this child. What child needs an iPhone and Netflix?!?
I've bought niece books and her favourite sweets to unwrap but I'm not being guilt tripped into buying anything else, no way! I have 3 nieces with more on the way and £50 is where I draw the line. I have memories of getting clothes and small toys from my aunties and I was always well chuffed - I'm only 29!0
