Do You Think The Comp Board Has Out Grown MSE?

Couldn't agree more gholmes - you always get that with 'independant' groups. There's the ones who set it up/run it, the ones who suck up to them, the ones are really are their friends, the ones who try to sabotage it, the ones who egg them on but are too scared to actually do it themselves and so on until you get to the ones who, like yourself, just want to do whatever it was the group was set up for. I'd sooner eat my own head these days than have anything to do with all that!0

The comps board is a free, mostly very friendly and very useful resource and on that basis I cannot complain.
I don't know how feasible it is these days, but I used to use it in conjunction with other comping sites.
I think that the forums are (and have been for several years) far more useful than the site itself.
If it were not for the forums, I think that the site would be far less popular. I find the information on the main site incredibly repetitive and frequently promoting things that are not in the least bit money saving. "Half price" wine at Tesco, iPhone 6...0 -

Definitely agree with this... The Forums are great for everything, whereas the site is occasionally useful if, for example, you know exactly what you want to buy and see if there's a deal on here for it. But there are better websites for that.0 -
I came to MSE originally looking for ways to save/make money and now use the Competitions Forum far more than any other part of the site, but I think it is a great place to have it as the updates along the right hand side are a great reminder of why I originally came here, and even prompt me to click on them sometimes!
In fact, today I have logged on to look for details of children's bank accounts via my desktop link to the competitions forum, and only getting slightly distracted along the way“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” - Dr Seuss0 -
Personally I think the competitions forum is great! I love it just the way it is!0

I've popped in and out of here for a few years and it's been at times friendly, unfriendly, rude, abusive, kind, sympathetic, unsympathetic etc. but at the core - as with all comping services I've looked at - there's usually a bunch of decent folk who just enjoy comping, who like helping and just have fun.
You also get a few compers who moan or who are a pain, or totally forget their own culpability when problems arise - especially when it comes to forums. And everyone always wants more from the site they're using (New Year's Day email - please start posting answers as you're not doing enough for compers).
I think the only "issue" here is that as part of a big machine it perhaps can be more frustrating when things aren't tweaked as often as you like. And that's not worth worrying about imo.

Ooooh, I shall don my habit... I like a good 1400s nunnery, me... :rotfl:
Don't think a habit is what you are looking for, although some costumes might be appropriate...

"Nunnery - A brothel."

I have comped on and off for over 20 years and good luck with finding a better site than this!!
I have done it on Loquax - that was too faffy, didn't give you the answers and just took ages to comp.
I have subbed to paid comp sites and magazines - much less competitions posted and very !!!!!y forums and mags are useless because mainly out of date comps (although good for telling you which products to buy for those type)
I have done HotUKdeals - again not as many posted, but ok if you just want to enter the "big ones"
MSE is the perfect way.. a shed load of comps get posted, sort board posts in date order, I open up one page of comps in one swift move with linkclump - work across these tabs, putting a cross in the ones I don't enter and a tick and thanks in the ones I do. closing them down with ctl and w as I go and then onto next page.. its quick and methodical - I see and acknowledge every comp and enter some I may have bypassed. I would cry a million tears if the board closed because this is the BEST by far!£2021 in 2021... £253.86/£20210
