Monks wear wimples?
If I were a 15th century nun, I should like a monk with a nice clean and tidy wimple... :A
Unfortunately, sounded more like it's part of a nun's dress, though.

Definitely think the cheese comps should have a sub-forum of their own... There are enough of them :rotfl: Maybe even sub-sub-forums ("soft cheeses", "hard cheeses", "goats' cheeses" etc). :eek:0 -
I just want to say Thank You to everyone who has taken the time to reply because It's made me think about a lot of things.
I was just racking my brains trying to think of how I came here, it was because Martin was on a news programme talking about saving money by entering surveys.
So I searched here & found them. But I can't remember how I actually ended up in the comp section!
It seems for a lot of people it's not about just entering comps, it's about friendship & I guess a sense of belonging here? & the whole Ethos of MSE in general.
I didn't know that someone had tried to do a spin off comp forum, I can understand why it did not work though because we have most of the best comp finders here, & because of the loyalty of these people it's attracted more compers, & yes at the moment MSE is the comp forum with the most comps posted.
Have I outgrown the comping board, that's actually a really good question & one I've been thinking about. Perhaps I have? I'm not sure. It is very frustrating seeing the same issues come up & with no way of being able to help.
But it has brought up two main points that I am struggling with & there is no way of changing either of them.
They are both making my life miserable here because it's how can I word this? You know how you have beliefs about things how you believe things are wrong or right & yes grey in the middle too, but things you would never put up with anywhere else because you believe them to be very wrong, but you want to be here to join in & hopefully win too so you stay & it just eats at you.
Well that's where I am stuck at.
So I have to find a way around this or find another way to comp.

Personally I love the comping boards and would be gutted if they disappeared.2017 wins = £1350
2016 wins = £125 (18 months off comps)
2015 wins = £6,460
2014 wins = £1,3500 -

Don't dwell on it.0 -
It's a comp board. It's not a moral issue, or life or death.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but could you be slightly over thinking it all?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
The comp board has been set up within the MSE forum style/system & tweaked to help make it easier for the compers as much as is possible within the MSE format
But
It only goes so far & with ever more competitions being found & listed daily quiet often there is not the right place to put things, & we do the best with what we have
Is it time for MSE comp board to find a format that would fit comping better?
xxx
Nope, competitions are simply a part of the forum.
The MSE forum covers a vast range of topics and there is no need to remove parts of it as there are sites out there which do just cover competitions and others that just cover parking fines or bailiffs etc etc.0 -
This site is great & most people don't like change. Having said that maybe if all the Facebook, Twitter, etc had their own section it would be easier for those who aren't into social media?0

I do not enter Twitter comps & do not even use the MSE functionality,eg ticks & crosses,in regard to them.Instead I just scroll past them.
If posting members then avoid posting via shortened links that hide the name of the site eg " Click Here" etc it is also very easy just to hover the cursor over the comp post to see the comp sites details. It can then be skipped without even opening the thread if it is a site that holds no interest.0
