I've come up with a meal plan using a lot of the YS goodies in the freezer, so today we just popped out to get bits to make up the meals
Hopefully I can avoid the YS temptations for a while!
£2.93 spent on sweet & sour sauce, a tin of mixed beans, food & freezer bags & a big sweet potato.
£4.81 spent on a jar of curry sauce, 4 brioche burger buns, 3 pack of tinned sweetcorn, 500g parsnips & a bottle of butterscotch sauce (ok that one wasn't part of the meal plan!)
So our meal plan for the week:
Monday: YS sweet potato & goats' cheese pies with parsnip, carrot & red onion roasted with honey & YS thyme. Also served with broccoli, green beans & onion gravy. May have some YS ploughmans bread if wantedYS saffron pudding for dessert if wanted.
Tuesday: Homemade Thai red curry using YS chicken for OH & Quorn chicken for me. Served with YS stir fry vegetables & coconut rice.
Wednesday: YS balsamic caramelised red onion beef burgers for OH & Linda McCartney burger for me, both topped with goats' cheese and served in brioche buns. Served with YS chips.
Thursday: Homemade BBQ baked beans (Jamie's recipe, here) made using YS chipotle sauce (instead of passata) but pretty much sticking to the recipe other than that. Served with sweet potato, homemade YS ciabatta croutons & YS coleslaw. OH may have some YS meat with his, not sure!
Friday: Sweet & sour YS chicken for OH & Quorn chicken for me. Served with YS stir fry vegetables & egg fried rice.
Saturday: Giant veg rosti - another Jamie recipe. Uses eggs, carrots, YS spinach, potatoes, peas & feta. Again, OH may have some YS meat out of the freezer and if I want I'll have some soya chicken.
Sunday: OH out, I'll probably have a YS meal out of the freezer.

This weekend we did things a little differently.
Fiance gets paid every 2 weeks (thoroughly irritating when bills are monthly), so we decided to try and go shopping for 2 weeks and only gets fresh bits in the middle weekend.
Budget for 2 weeks is $200. we had aleady decided that the weekly budget for food for that week is going to be $80 with $20 dedicated to store cupboard and freezer buys.
So we went shopping at Ald! and other supermarkets and spent $155 on the 2 weeks food and groceries, then another $30 on "future food" Chicken leg quarters were on offer and some other bits we use all the time.
$15 left for using at the weekend. But actually I don't think we need anything. All the menus have been shopped for. I might run out of cofee but i can't think of anything else. Quite pleased.0
