  • Hello!

Setting my budget at £150 this month - I was going to go lower but it's my birthday in the middle of the month so might treat myself food-wise around then!
November GC: £50.55/£130. October GC: £72.60/£150
September GC: £131.27/£170. July GC: £62.48/£80. May GC: £135.00/£150
April GC: £201.91/£140. March GC: £194.98/£200. January GC: £111.41/£200.
December GC: £67.45/£80. Nov GC: £159.32/£220. October GC: £208.07/£250.
  • Can I join please?
Household is 2 adults and 2 under 3's (one in full time nappies, one still - stubbornly - in nappies at night!)
Going to hazard a guess at £400 which is whopping.
I've found since I joined a slimming club... Beginning with S... My food bill has gone up from all the extra fruit and veggies!
Mostly shop at mr Ts, especially now with the fuel save thing it works quite well for us.
I have 2 grocery deliveries a month, buy nappies and wipes in bulk on amazon but tend to go to the co op across the road in between which is most likely my downfall.
My budget will include food/drink/laundry/family toiletries/nappies wipes etc.
    Will start collecting receipts now!

    Thanks!
    Oct GC £0/£400
  • I'm currently staying with my fianc! in the USA, and have been put in charge of the grocery budget. So please can you put me down for $500.

That sounds like a lot and to me it feels like a lot, but I'm only just getting to grips with things here and i forget that $ aren't £.

I'll be running from today until the 30th October which is the day before my shopping day.

    Hello!

First spend of this month and it is £19.63/200. Need to keep it tight to stay within budget this month
    NOT BUYING IT 2018!

Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.
  • First couple of spends of the month. 7.00 in superdrug on sanex and toothpaste for the month and 23.00 in sainsburys, iceland and the Poundshop. Mostly on pack up stuff too last til the half term. We're going away now for a weekover the half term. So there's no excuse in going over this month.

I'm starting to build my chritmas/January stocks up. I buy the usual Christmas stuff and also try to have a box of stuff too see us through January as its always a dire month for us. I fill it with practical stuff that I have to buy every month like coffee, toothpaste, toilet roll etc.

    NSD achieved :D

  • Made a start on a meal plan - did pan fried turkey steak and sweet potato colcannon for tea and it was fab! I made the colcannon with two sweet potatoes, boiled and mashed, mixed with a couple of rashers of streaky bacon, stir fried with some Savoy cabbage which had been lurking in the fridge for yonks! I also has a bit of leftover regular mas in the fridge so I lobbed that in too. There is well enough to do another meal, so I might freeze it, as DD2 had a bad enough face eating it tonight! Mind you she cleared her plate.

I was looking on a blog called Bakingqueen74 earlier on - have any of you read it? She has some fab slow cooker cakes on there, and I might have a go at the aero bubbles one tomorrow.

NSD today, except for getting my hair coloured at the hairdressers.

Hope you are all having a nice evening.

    Good morning!
After taking a break over the summer as I was away for some time during each month I am now back to try again!
I want to attempt £ 200 in October for now 3 family members.
The previous attempts were £ 250 for 4 and once I was just under and once had failed. I am still not sure how to adapt that now I am cooking for one less person AND save money. We'll see how it goes!

My main store is Lidl, I top up everywhere else when I'm in big town. I have decided not to include alcohol in the family budget for now but rather to treat it as "personal luxury" item.

Happy Green - It might be worth carrying on cooking for four and freezing one portion each time; then a couple of times a month you can have an evening off cooking and each have something different from the freezer which you just need to reheat and cook the carbs to go with it. I think it's very difficult to just cook for 3 people! The other alternative, if the 3rd person is a little one, cook for 2 and make up a 3rd meal for the LO with a bit from each portion.
