I think the £600 price drop is more the issue here. The "label" on a hotel is just that. A label. £600 however is significant but sadly you were happy to pay the price originally and there is really not much you can do about that now.0

This has got to be a wind up....hasn't it?0

I have never booked a holiday outside of the UK through a tour operator so I have no feelings regarding just how good or not they are BUT I have never known such a snobbish, bull headed person that chooses to complain over the change in a named brochure. As it has been pointed out {many times on this thread} NOTHING apart from the price and the new brochure it has been put in has changed.
If you were honest to all on here the main thing IMO that has got your goat is the price drop and perhaps the fact you will not be able to brag to your circle of friends that YOU are staying in the best of the best.
Personally I feel sorry for you and good luck in taking on the company to get what YOU THINK you are entitled to.Just face it being a snob these days gets you nowhere and even if you come back saying that you have got this/that ect from them I bet no one on here will be fool enough to believe it.0 -
How does anyone on this forum know that nothing has changed?
Oh...That's right...Thomson said so.....Must be true.

If its as fab as before then it would still be in the A La Carte brochure. Thomson now clearly think its not up to that standard, hence they have moved it into the "nearly made it " brochure.
Still might be nice though.
Either that or maybe it is the same, just that the bar has been raised to qualify for the top brochure.
Regardless, i think it is a valid request to get a proper explanation as to why tbey dont think its good enough anymore0 -

Not necessarily, there are several other possible explanations for the re-labelling. One of them you mention yourself, another was brought up earlier in the thread.
While the OP comes across as a serial complainer and not a very pleasant person in general, I do agree that if he can get confrmation from Thomson that the hotel was actually downgraded due to a significant change in quality or facilities, there might be a case for cancelling (or changing to a different hotel). Whether that is the case remains to be seen though.0 -
According to Thomson brochure it's a Platinum Lifestyle from May 2015 so if you are going before then, it's still in a la carte category0

It's currently advertised on their website as 'Platinum' at £600 less than I paid.....Oh damn...I shouldn't have mentioned the price drop....That makes me a snob!:)0 -
