A refund for a holiday that didn't exist?
    I'm guessing no.
    Keep up

But it did exist when i went first time round, and now they dont offer it, or maybe they have just changed the brochure, I didnt look, But surely that means i was ripped off first time round and deserve a refund?

I booked a holiday at the 5 star Grand Bahia Luxe.

When I got there I discovered it was actually called the Grande Bahia Luxe.

I will get all my money back thanks to reading this thread.

Many thanks OP. What a champion you are.

It's strange how people are joining the gang with made up situations.

If labels mean nothing, as suggested many times in this thread, then why would anyone go to the trouble of branding them? Thomsons obviously find it works for them as they've been doing it for years.

They use these labels to suggest that you are getting something extra special. That the premium experience you are getting is worth the extra. That it is considered 'better', whether by their customers or themselves, than similar resorts in the same area.

So I think I would be pretty miffed if the hotel I had paid a premium for, which had been highlighted by the seller as one of their most favoured, enjoyed resorts, all of a sudden no longer met their criteria.

I don't think I would immediately cancel, but I'd want to know what has changed

Your post answers your own question, it's nothing more than a marketing ploy they use to be able to charge more for a holiday, the suggestion that you're getting something better is all that it is.

The reason they have been doing it for years and still do is because there are suckers like the OP who fall for it.

    Happy to 'fall for it'
    Happy to pay too!
But don't go changing a damn thing about it without having the decency to allow me to decide whether your change affects me.
That's my money, my decision.... Surely?

Except it's not changing until May, you go in January, it's still in exactly the same brochure while you are on holiday.

For purposes of marketing, obviously. In any case, the discussion is moot now since it's been revealed that the OP's hotel is in fact still in the original category. Why and what exactly the OP is still pursuing is a mystery to most of us I'm sure but going by their history it seems he is determined to complain about something when going on holiday.
