We're all so sure nothing has changed!
Good that.
Probably because you can't tell us anything that has.
Have the reviews suddenly become awful? No.
Has it lost stars? No.
Has it closed parts of the hotel? No.
Have they stopped offering some of the facilities? No.
So, tell us, what has changed? You seem to be 'in the know'. That is has 100% definitely moved brochure because it has changed, how? Come on, spill the beans.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Seems the opening poster asked a question and doesnt like the answer the majority are giving him,0

Or "off the menu"

I know, what is all that about? Substitute 'menu' for 'brochure' and you have to ask how can that ever make one hotel better than another?
Maybe Thomsons should rename their 'Platinum' brochure 'Plat du jour'. Equally both as meaningless and pretentious as 'a la carte'.

"The majority of people recevieving that email would have read it, briefly wondered why, then carried on with their day."
Thanks exactly what Thomsons are hoping for!.....sheep. Don't be a victim!
The only victim is you. You fell for the marketing pitch. Call something 'a la carte' and the suckers will pay through the nose for it.
You booked a mass-market, purpose built, all inclusive holiday resort catering for upwards of 1300 people from all nations and walks of life. I'm sure it's in a lovely location and with great facilities, but it's still just an upmarket holiday resort. There wasn't ever going to be anything truly special and exclusive about it, but you believed there would because of the brochure they put it in. More fool you.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Thanks for all the helpful replies.
I'll keep you posted about the outcome.0 -
It might be better if they let the OP cancel, for the sake of the poor holidaymakers that would have to tolerate him!
OP, you've still not told us what has materially changed about the holiday? The difference between a loaf of bread and a french stick is physical, something tangible. What are the physical changes to your holiday?
Id love to be a fly on the wall when he is sitting at the bar next to one who paid 600 quid less for the same holiday :beer:0 -
I can see why the OP feels the need for compensation.
All her friends and family know she is an "A la Carte type person"
Imagine the shame and embarrassment if they discover she's gone on an ordinary holiday without those prestigious A la Carte baggage tags. This could be social ruin.
Only the socially clueless don't know that content is nothing and the label on a product is everything after all.
Precisely. It's like something out of Keeping Up Appearances
It looks like a gorgeous hotel OP, I wish I could afford to go there! I'm guessing it's the price drop that's annoying you more than the reclassification, but that's just how it goes sometimes. You shouldn't let it spoil your holiday.0 -
Rule one on holiday- Never ask anyone else how much they paid for their holiday.
If you paid less they'll hate you
If you paid more it'll take the shine off the holiday for youI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Rule 2
Never check the price of your holiday after you have booked0
