Super sorry everyone! Was posed to post on Monday, but had a call from OH and it's kind of been a whirlwind since then. Having major issues with his work, having to get ACAS involved. Attempting to be two grown ups, trying to deal with solicitors. Ugh! Good news is he has an interview next week, so all this might be over with sooner than we think. Even if he doesn't get the position, it should boost his confidence knowing companies are interested in having him.
Keeping on top of money! I didn't quite reach my goals last month, I'll hold my hands up and admit I used what I should have saved last week to take OH out for dinner and take his mind off of things. But I did save £400, however, which is actually 50% of my take home so I'm not too upset. Plus we still managed to have fun, have some treats, so I'd call October a success!
Decided to forgo the savings targets this month, the lead up to the end of the year isn't cheap for anyone so I'm just going to focus on keeping things in check, not going over board, and saving what I can. However, the house deposit now sits at £7,000. With problems with OH's work I'm not sure if we'll get to £10,000 anymore, but we can try!
Starting the Christmas Bonus with Morrisons this week :j Just spending the £40, and using it to stock up. This week it's the selection tubs (REFUSE TO CALL THEM TINS YOU DON'T EVEN GET 1KG OF CHOCOLATE GDI) and then I'll get essentials like Captain Morgans and Jack Daniels to get us over the £40 mark each week. It's exactly what we did last year, I just can't believe it's time to start again?!
Meeting a friend for coffee and a catch up tomorrow, so will need to put some petrol in and will no doubt do a little bit of shopping (she's my bad influence friend!) but I'll behave! My phone has met it's bitter end, so I had to upgrade on my contract. I'm counting it as my treat for the next 22 months so I don't get any other nice things
Making a friend's recipe for tea tonight, basically a mass of mince, potatoes and spices served with veggies. So hoping it's as filling and warming as it is cheap! Don't know about anyone else but we've been putting the heating on at about 5 each night (until 10ish), can't believe how fast it got this cold and dark. Not that I'm really complaining, love this part of the year!
Hope everyone has a nice weekendOur's will be quiet, prepping OH for his interview!

I'm really sorry to hear about your OH's job. Hopefully he gets the new one next week. Eeeek at getting ACAS involved, hope they help!
You always seem to have a plan and manage to pull it off so I'm sure you'll get to your target eventually.
Wishe we had a morrisons or an asda near by but I guess the £6 off £40 spend at Sainsbobs for the next 4 weeks will just have to do.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Hi Cinny I live in your part of the world and it has been really chilly this last week, I have also started to put the heating on.
Sorry to hear about the job woes, I hope it works itself out and your OH gets a job that he enjoys somewhere else.0 -
Hi Ladies I haven't meant to be quiet but it's amazing how much time a small person takes up lol. Sleep deprivation is well and truly tortuous but wouldn't change it for the world. Here's a picture of our little one (hope it works)

Oh Ali! What a little cutie
Is that red hair I spy? Or am I just broody for little redheaded babies?!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Popped out on Saturday as OH decided to get his parents a Tassimo for Christmas and they were half price at Tesco. So just as he bought his first present, I bought my last! Oddly typicalBought the first of what will be endless rolls of wrapping paper, and now it's paining me to not start wrapping things.
Went to OH's parents last night for his Brother's engagement dinner and a little crooning over the scans of the new addition! Had a bit of a baby overload this weekend, and will have to suffer through another with my Niece's Christening on Saturday. Really trying not to get broody but it's hard!
Still behaving on the most part with money. Managed to master the just-over £40 Morrisons spend and I've got to admit, I'm so glad I decided to do it online as it's so much easier to keep track. And with my side of the presents sorted for the "big" day, I can focus a little more on the savings again from next week. Also split my new phone contract into 4, which I'm dutifully putting to one side each week rather than taking the hit from my last wages of the month.
Which I had something amazing to update you with but we're really just pushing on. Until OH gets a new job/gets things sort at his work we're kind of going into lock down a little. As our house savings may or may not having to becoming a bridging-the-gap fundThings aren't looking like they'll be that bad, but being prepared is key I suppose!

Yep red hair which she gets from daddy's side of the family. Don't get broody it leads to a baby which leads to no sleep and a lot of talk about bodily functions between you and your oh :rotfl:. Saying that though I wouldn't change her for the world
Hubby got a dolce gusto off Arya for Christmas and he's loving it, managed to get the last one from our Tesco, was a great deal.
Sorry things aren't as straightforward for you at the moment but at least there's no panic for money if your oh has to leave his job before getting another one. Obviously not what you were hoping for but a blessing in disguise.DEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN:heart: Married my prince on 27/08/2011Baby Girl born 21/10/14:D:D:D:D

Hows things going Cinny? Nearly a month with no update.
Can I see your ebay shop? Curious to see what you're wheeler dealing in.
How is OH's job now? I hope ACAS helped. Unfortunately I found them a right chocolate teapot of an organisation when I tried to use them.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Sorry for the lack of updates, people! Everything's just been a little wishy washy, our savings haven't grown as we're still having issues with OH's work withholding his pay, had a fight on his hands this month to just get the expenses paid he was due. Hoping once everything is sorted, hopefully in the new year, we'll have a nice boost to report. What surplus income we had this month has obviously gone on the big C, and with OH having a tough time at work we decided to ease up a little and plan fun things to take his mind off of it. Not MSE in the slightest (although we did resist a £250 replica sword on Saturday so... :money:??) but his mental health is my top priority atm. Although being an old hand with how crippling anxiety and depression are both mentally and physically, kind of thinking he couldn't have a more sympathetic partner!
Ebay shop has fallen a little wayside in the wake of everything, Dinah. But I'll send you a PM! I like to think it's just be being a little bit savvy
As for acas they seem on the ball, as far as I'm aware. Problem is more OH's work not returning their calls etc! Which is fairly typical of them, so I'm not surprised.
Hope everyone is excited and prepped for Christmas! I made the big cleaning list for next Tuesday, I'm actually really excited:o OVEN DEEP CLEAN EVERYONE!! We're off for the turkey on Saturday, and I'll go get the veg (and hope I don't have to fight for carrots) on Wednesday.. and we're set
Off out for tea with a friend tonight, have a voucher for bogof on main course. At least that's a slightly MSE aspect!
We're still keeping on top of things, and all our money is still in order. Just without doing too much actively, I feel a little like there isn't anything much to report0
