I did a long catch up post, but seems I've been put on troll status! Will update fully when everything's back to normal0

What a bizarre Monday on here, Troll central or what?!
Feels so long ago that it's probably irrelevant now but we had a lovely weekend featuring 2 nsds, one awesome stew and a new found Strictly addiction?! I've really loathed any and all talent/celebrity shows these past few years. Maybe it's the glitter, maybe it's me getting soft in my old age, but I really bloody liked it!
However, on a vein that runs a little closer to my heart both the new series of Walking Dead and the brand new series of Gotham (featuring side-eyes Benjamin McKenzie!) started last night. So we have lots to watch tonight, all snuggled up if it keeps raining like it is!
Finally ordered our new gate yesterdayJust a standard wooden farm gate, so we should be getting it fitted in the next few weeks. Saved a tidy bundle by buying it ourselves and bribing family with tea to fit it.
Was still a spendy weekend, howeverOn the one day I spent money! Paid for cinema tickets (£18.40! Which has prompted us to consider Unlimited cards) needed some new toner/make up remover and after having an internal breakdown over my hair I caved and got some box dye. Still in the black, but barely.
3 paydays left in the month, so to meet my target I need to save £85 a week to best it. I think it's do-able, if I'm strict with myself. And I really want to have £500 stashed for anything that crops up so I need to knuckle down and get on with it.
Income for the rest of the month is £570, predicted bills are £245.87. Leaves me with £74.13 to play with. We did a massive shop on Friday, our stores are bursting so we really don't need to spend anything for the rest of the month on food, bar maybe some perishables - but I'd set this very low at maybe £10 over the next three weeks? We have nothing planned, bar a potential £16.40 on an unlimited card. Car will maybe need another £10 in before the month's out.. we can do this! If I slog it out for this month, and November I'll have the £1000 saved up in time for December and can ease up then.
OH's also been working out his earnings for the year so far, of which we've managed to save 20% into the house fundWe also had a trip to Vegas at 5k, roughly 2k on car repairs and 1.5k on car payments. I think we've done okay! With a year of home improvements and righting ourselves against debts.. we could have done a lot worse.
Such grim weather today that there's no chance on a walk this afternoon (Ryder hates it, I really don't mind getting wrapped up!) So I'm hauling us across to my parents house for a cuppa and chat, while Ryder can run around the house with their dogs to tire him out a little.
Easy warming tea tonight! Making chorizo and meatball chilli, on rice with garlic bread. Plenty of space to fill up on veggies now salads are well and truly out of the question. I refuse to eat a single cold thing (bar chocolate, obviously) until May.0 -
I've watched the first couple of episodes of Gotham, it's pretty good.
I need to watch last season of The Walking Dead though so have to get a wiggle on so I can watch the new series as it comes out!
The cinema is so expensive isn't it?! I wish our local cinema was a Cineworld so we could do the unlimited card. Not that we get to go any more but we would have spent every weekend there pre-Zach!
When you look back at what you've done over the year it's incredible! Debt paid off, money in the bank and and amazing holiday! :T
Your tea sounds delicious! We are stupidly, embarassingly, skint until Monday so it's a week of very boring freezer teas for me this week.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I do genuinely feel sad at posts with no pictures, so here's my superamazingepicallyrad skirt from Saturday
Awful news this morning that my Brother was in a crash last nightThankfully he'd okay, but his car is a complete write off. It's his mini, pride and joy since he turned 17! So happy he's okay and I know in that sense we were extremely lucky but equally.. can't help thinking what a ballache it must be financially.
On top of that, back at our end, OH's car has started blowing smoke again! Spent thousands on it this summer, even taking it to the "proper" garage and they admitted (as the experts) they don't have a clue. Grr!
Trying to focus on some positives! Yesterday was a NSD, two more and I'll be into double figuresLast night's tea was beautiful and there was plenty left over for tonight :money: We're kind of on a roll with left overs atm! We found out through quidco we effectively get a month free on the Unlimited card so that's really nudged us in the right direction. Looking forward to movies being our "cheap-to-do-while-we-save" thing again
Sorry to hear you're out of money, Birdie! Are there any ways you could fancy up your freezer teas? When we ever pull something from the freezer I try and over compensate by making a "weekend" side to go with.
Trying to find a nice cake recipe today, haven't baked since last week and I feel this emptiness! Stumbled upon this beast but it would mean going to the supermarket, so I'm just going to add the things to my shopping list for Saturday and make it next week/over the weekend. Think I'll just make a standard monster sponge cake, with basic maple frosting. No need to spend any money that way!
Ran yesterdays numbers with OH while we were waiting for Apprentice to start and agreed the £500 is totally attainable and if I don't make it, I'm clearly an idiot. So lets see what happens! Can't believe it's almost payday again.0 -
Glad that your brother is ok. Cars can be replaced, but I can understand the sentimentality we attach to things.
I love that skirt and I'm not even a massive Who fan or anything. And the purse is gorgeous as well. Very jealous.
I'm jealous of all the baking going on. Since I'm trying to lose weight for the wedding, I've stopped baking and after binge watching an extra slice of the GBBO last night, I'm itching to bake something again. Keep hinting to OH that I would like a proper stand mixer for Christmas and then I can make all the cakes he wants. It's such a pain when you have to beat sugar and butter together by hand!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Love the skirt Cinny !
So glad your brother is OK. OH's uncle was in a car crash just over a week ago and wasn't wearing a seatbelt. He sadly passed away a couple of nights ago.0 -

Oh Wendz, I'm so sorryIt really stops you in your tracks, doesn't it? Hope you and your family are okay! xxx
And I don't know if you're the same Ruby, but I can only work towards losing weight if I have a date in mind - something I have to lose it for. I'm too comfy and insulated otherwise!
Text from OH to say he's at the car dealers. It's so frustrating that we got the car we did because on reviews and test drives it ticked every box. He needs a reliable car for his job, as he is sent all over the UK now. The amount of times this one has broken down in the last 2 months alone is insane. So he's gone to speak about a part exchange and finance plan on a new car. Asked him to bring home as much information and detailed breakdowns of finance options as he can, and we'll have to talk it over tonight. He's away with work from Sunday so it isn't something we'll be acting on instantly (as far as I'm aware!) It's just such a pain we went through all this not 16 months ago.
Just going to quietly mention that my £500 tin-can that OH wouldn't be seen dead in has never done me over like his "car for life" has
Counting down the minutes until home time. Quick walk with Ryder to clear my head/his bladder and we're onto dinner, baking and some tv catch up time!0 -
Thank you, I didn't really know him but horrible for my OH and my in laws x
That is annoying about the car. The one we had before this one kept breaking down so made financial sense to get a new one so we didn't keep paying out!0 -
So glad your brother's okay Cinny.
As always your plans seem doable and I agree that getting a cinema card is well worth it. DH and I both have them and we've watched at most 4 films in one day, although the meals between do counteract the mse aspect lol. I've not been for a couple of months but only as it's uncomfortable to sit in those chairs plus having to pee every 5 minutes makes it annoying. Not sure if your cineworld has started doing it but you now have to choose where you want to sit when buying your tickets. I've noted the best row and seat numbers for each screen we go in so we always get a good seat.
I'm definitely loving the skirt, but not so much the new episodes although last weeks was better than expected.
Very frustrating about the car, I recall the effort that went into getting this one so hoping that something can be sorted out quite quickly for you.DEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN:heart: Married my prince on 27/08/2011Baby Girl born 21/10/14:D:D:D:D
