    Happy Birthday for tomorrow! :bdaycake:

Hope it's a lovely one even if it is a little frugal, home cooked tea and Netflix sounds pretty darn good to me! :)

Oh and in big news, on Friday I attacked my wardrobe, and won! :T One bin bag for the charity shop and one for the tip! My wardrobe is not very ordered and nice, even my knicker drawer is a thing of beauty! :p Of course, on Sunday my SIL popped round to borrow a particular dress that hadn't made the cut and was at the charity shop, oops! :o

Still high on the wardrobe success on Monday I tackled the hall cupboard of doom, which took freaking hours but I got the shelving unit I wanted in there and it looks so much better with everything nicely ordered and visible. Still needs finishing (can't believe how many boxes of crap I have to sort through!) and was meant to finish it last night but [STRIKE]sat around reading all night[/STRIKE] got distracted with other important things! :p OH is worried that I might be pregnant as this is scarily like nesting, but considering I never really nested whilst actually pregnant I think maybe it's just a delayed reaction?! :rotfl:

Sorry for the maaaaaassive gap in updates on here! Was so busy at work leading up to the "proper" year end, and with OH taking the week off we've barely stopped. Today is our first and only proper "lazy" day of our break! Hooowever, we haven't spent a lot of money and have been fairly MSE :) Lots of days with family, walks with Ryder and seeing friends. Been pretty blissful!

Have massive news that our deposit fund is now at £24k :j:j This'll be the last huuge jump as now OH's commission structure is peanuts and over the break he's actually been offered a much better job. Don't want to jinx it but it means he'll be able to work from home, which'll save on running costs of his car, and on the few days a month where he'll need to travel a few cities over, he'll actually get expenses. Just waiting for it all to be finalised!

Despite the big bump in our house deposit we're still looking to buy next Summer, we're 1k away from the goal we set and we also want to use the time to pay down the car loans as the fewest bills we have the better. I've also been squirreling money away and have saved £385ish now. This is more for using towards our holiday in September, and we have decided to have one last blow-out holiday in Vegas next May before we settle down to a mortgage! (was going to be over my 25th birthday in March until we realised OH won't have any new holiday days to take off over next Easter)

I do have a £240 bill to pay by the end of July I need to start putting money to one side for, so that's something I can't forget about!

Also had some codes through the post that effectively got us 50% off orders of anything up to £50. We got one each so used OH's to get the toaster to match our kettle (been wanting this for over a year, but it's normally £79 and no thanks  It being on sale plus the code made it £37.95) and I used mine to get some things for my Mum's birthday, MIL's birthday and my friend's wedding in June.

Aaaaand FINALLY! Back on our diets and I've lost 9lb so far :) Finding it helps reduce our food bill as I'm taking the totally Americanised "clean eating" route and buying only meat and lots of veggies.

Hope everyone's well and had a good Easter!

Wow, well done for hitting £24k! :j Amazing! :T

Hope your OH's job works out, he's doing so well! Give him a pat on the back from me! :D

Well done on the weightloss too. :T

Basically, all sounds fabulous in Cinnyland! :)

Yiiikes, almost 2 months without an update isn't on! But, in my defense, things were stationary savings-wise over that time.

Hooowever things are moving again! Put £350 into savings this morning, but we're hoping to break 25k by the end of the month. We're still waiting on the last wage from OH's old job (they were meant to pay him on the 29th, pushed it to the 5th.. still waiting!) but in a sense I guess the longer they make us wait the more we'll be able to save.

OH's starting his second week at his new job and seems to be enjoying the challenge :) It's weird/nice having him at home, even if I do have to pretend like he's not there. Well.. until he yells for a coffee.

Really want to crack on and put our noses back to the grindstones with savings now everything's back on track. OH is off his medication and feeling a lot better, I'm feeling a lot less stressed to so I feel like we're back in a healthy place for it. If we're going to hit our 30k goal by 2016 we really need to crack on!

Glad your OH is happy with his new job and he's feeling better. :) I'm not good at working from home, I'm far too easily distracted! :o

Glad you're feeling good too. :)

    Hello Old Diary!!

Been an age since I've updated here as our house deposit fund has taken a back seat as we found out we're expecting a mini-Cinny in February. Which is exciting and terrifying, but means all our plans were thrown up in the air and when they landed we decided to bite the bullet and start working through our diy to-do list, which we were holding off on until after we'd bought the house, but we're going to be a little too pre-occupied/probably tired to over haul the place once Fox is here next Summer.

However, the light is at the end of the tunnel with our jobs so as of next month we can hopefully start saving again :) So, the diary might as well come back now I actually have things to update!

But as for a catch up, everything is peachy as ever. OH is thankfully in a much better place, although he's currently giving up smoking through October so is a little bit irritable ;) He's thriving at his new job and I'm, as ever, incredibly proud of him! My work is ticking along nicely too after the stress of June, my plan is to work up to my due date (or as near as) by working from home as of January and if all goes well I'll continue working from home until Fox is getting ready for school. Ryder is Ryder, and probably extremely excited about getting a new human if he understood english.

Onwards and upwards to the 30k!
  • Awwww how exciting many congratulations to you. Exciting times ahead for you along with sleepless nights :) I am super broody at the moment and everytime I see a baby I want to have one of my own.
Got married last year so keep being asked when I am having a baby (my mother is particularly bad keep telling me the clock is ticking)

Glad to hear all is well with you I missed reading the updates and jumped with joy when received an e-mail saying there was an update.

Take care hun and keep us posted xx

Thanks LMP! I have to admit it was a bit of a shock, even though we weren't preventing pregnancy, we'd been NTNP for over 2 years and I just forgot it was even a possibility! OH wasn't even home when I took the test, longest day of my life waiting for him to get back from a business trip :o

In money news I've set myself a target of earning an extra £150 by the end of the month through matched betting. I've been doing it with a relatively small pot for two weeks now, but hit a massive stand-still with one offer which I've been waiting since Saturday to get my money back on. Eep! It's on it's way but it's drained my liability pot completely.

OH has been matched betting too, doing the complicated offers while I do the basic ones, and over the last 13 days we've made £500 which we've been putting into an ISA.

One thing I forgot to mention is the addition of a new loan to our finances! We decided to take a proper look at OH's debts and once we'd looked at the figures and worked through the calculations he decided to take out a personal loan to consolidate them. He's aiming to pay it all off before the end of 2016 (20k loan ) but as it isn't my debt, it's not something I'll really be counting down. Just mentioning it for future reference when our matched betting money gets split and half of it vanishes :rotfl:
