And I don't know if you're the same Ruby, but I can only work towards losing weight if I have a date in mind - something I have to lose it for. I'm too comfy and insulated otherwise!
I'm exactly the same. Aiming to get to my target weight by the time we go to Prague in December. Have just under 8 weeks to lose 10lbs. Not sure how achievable that is but going to give it a good go.
May I ask what car your OH has so I know to avoid it in future?! Sounds absolutely ridiculous that it's breaking down so much.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Yesterday was neither a NSD or a very productive day. Was feeling horrid at work, headache and a little spacey. I thought I was just hungry so when I got home made a bagel toastie, some soup and topped it off with a salted caramel cookie for a sugar kick. Felt about 1204832x worse. So I put Wreck it Ralph on, snuggled on the sofa (using Ryder as a foot warmer) and snoozed off for about an hour. Felt no better when I woke up, so caved to going and buying some tablets. One downside of only popping pills when you desperately need to is we don't have a little stash like most people I know, we normally remedy any illness with herbal drinks or just going to bed early!ruby_eskimo wrote: »May I ask what car your OH has so I know to avoid it in future?! It's a very cute Volvo c30. Don't get me wrong, when it works properly it runs like a dream. It just hasn't been for the past few monthsGood news (??) is they checked over the car and suggested some more possible cures.. and a quote for £700 :eek: To give them credit, when past things haven't worked they've only charged for parts/not charged at all. Upside is it's cheaper than getting a new car so fingers crossed.
And that's another reason yesterday wasn't a NSD! Had to pick OH up from work, and then OH wanted to go to Morribobs.. so I thought I'd test the 1p Screme egg theory!DH and I both have them and we've watched at most 4 films in one day, although the meals between do counteract the mse aspect lol.
This is my fear! We're thinking of going tonight to see Dracula, and OH's first question was going somewhere for tea. But like you said, it really counteracts the MSE elementI wouldn't mind going say, once a month? We can go somewhere that gives you a discount with the card so it wouldn't be as bad. I'm just happy our cinema has a Starbucks so 10% off a PSL
Money wise -- Aiming for a NSD!
- Requested payout from Quidco of £5.54
- + an extra 17p for having payments via paypal :money:
- Withdrew a fancy 55p from Paypal (from apptrailer)
Will get paid later tonight, or by tomorrow morning. Closing my eyes and throwing £85 in the saver. Can't spend what I can't see!
And for the menu: Fried chilli beef for tea tonight, with coconut rice and spring rolls0 -
Oooh love the purse and skirt! What do you think of the new series and Doctor?! I'm not sure... I still can't get over Matt Smith leaving my life.
Boo to the car woes.At least the repairs are 'only' £700 I guess. But ouch! I'm so glad we haven't had any major car issues with ours as it's the one thing that is guarateed to send me into a stressful ball of mush. I hate dealing with car stuff! That said, top of my to-do list is to get our locking wheel nuts sorted as apparently they're all broken and currently stuck on so we need to get them welded off??? Urgh. If we leave it as-is, if we get a flat in the middle of nowhere we can't change the wheel!
Just waiting for us to have the spare money to get this done, and I'm sure we'll need new tyres too which is just going to use up all the extra money we get from my full-time back at work wage next month!
Glad your brother's OK after his crash. Cars can be replaced, people can't! Anyway, he should use this as an opportunity to get a new pride and joy!
My freezer is now empty (it wasn't very full to begin with!) of all but the rubbish that no-one wants to eat! Luckily, my Mum is babysitting this afternoon and as my Dad is working late she's offered to take me and mini-me out for tea!
Ali- we went to the cinema when I was a week overdue (and sure that we were tempting fate by going so far from home and *knew* that my waters would break mid-movie! No such luck...;)) and I must have waddled off to the loo about 4 times! We then enjoyed freaking the waitresses out in the restaurant afterwards by telling them I was overdue... after having to be moved because I couldn't fit in the first booth they sent us to! :rotfl:
Good luck with the weightloss Ruby! 10lbs in 8 weeks should be achievable... but hey, even if you lose 2 or 3lbs in that time at least it's a loss!
Hope you're feeling better Cinny! Loads of people seem to be dropping with one ailment or another right now. I've had a cold which luckily didn't leave me feeling too grotty but I hope to avoid all the other bugs!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

In our complex there is a Frankie and Benny's that give 25% off food with a card plus if we're trying to be cheaper there's a Fayre & Square pub as well.Oooh love the purse and skirt! What do you think of the new series and Doctor?! I'm not sure... I still can't get over Matt Smith leaving my life.
It just doesn't have the same feel for me yet and normally I'm straight into liking the new doctor when they appear. I just think it's because he's an older doctor that it's taking a while to get used

Apparently I'm carrying really low and should have given birth weeks ago according to absolutely everyone with an opinion :rotfl:. I'm actually being induced on Sunday at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes so life will definitely get a lot more interesting :D

Seconded, hope you're feeling better. There seems to be a lot of horrible bugs going round at the moment so better off doing what your body says.DEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN:heart: Married my prince on 27/08/2011Baby Girl born 21/10/14:D:D:D:D

Oooh good luck! Hope it goes well, and quickly!
Have you got your hospital bag all ready?! Do you want my must-have list to make sure you've got it all?!
I'm struggling with the older Doctor thing too I think. Just not liking the weirdness between him and Clara and think her BF is a bit of a d.ck.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Thanks Birdie and yeah the must have list would be a god send as I'm packing as though I'm going on holiday lol. We're only a 10 minute walk from the hospital (hubby doesn't drive) but don't want to have to keep asking him to bring stuff I've forgotten plus we're in for a couple of days at least so am trying to pack for that as well.
Yeah there is a weirdness between them, no clicking at all. Going to be interesting when Clara leaves, wonder who they'll get as the new sidekickDEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN:heart: Married my prince on 27/08/2011Baby Girl born 21/10/14:D:D:D:D

Ok, from the top of my head:
For You:
Maternity pads (duh. The hospital provides them but they're mahoosive and don't stick)
Witch Hazel gel. Squirt it on the pad, don't apply directly! Buy this in massive quantities (unless you have a c-section obvs!)
Lavender oil. 3-4 drops on the pads. Add to a few tablespoons of milk in a bath once you're home. Tea tree oil is good too.
Snacks for your DH and change for the vending machine. The poor men don't get fed at all.
Change of top and a little freshen-up bag for DH (although I suppose he could go home, but he might not want to leave you)
Ear plugs and eye mask for sleeping on a ward.
Flip flops or Crocs- any kind of shoe that will fit on massively bloated feet!
Make-up/hair stuff and a little mirror (It might just be my hospital, but mirrors were hardly anywhere, presumably because everyone knew they looked like sh.t and didn't need confirmation!). Anything to make you feel a bit more human and photo ready.
Couple of changes of button down pjs.
Loads of massive pants. Buy a couple of packs of granny knickers in a size bigger than normal from a supermarket and just bin them once you're finished with them. My MW complimented me on my sensible knicker choice!
Lansinoh cream.
For Baby:
Vests and babygrows in a range of sizes. You never know how big or little she's going to be! Bring a neutral choice just in case too! One of the ladies from the PG board when I was on there was expecting a girl and a boy came out! His first photos are of him wearing a pink hat!
At least 2 going home outfits. My man was all dressed up to go home, buckled up in the car seat and barfed mucus all over himself so we had to change him!
Nappies and cotton wool. The cotton wool might be provided, but best to be prepared.
If you're bottle feeding, get a starter pack of little pre-made bottles. So easy to use in those first days!
Cellular blanket or 2.
Remember: every contraction is one step closer to meeting your little lady!

Fantastic thanks Birdie. Will go through what I've packed and remove half of it lol

Yeah sorry for the hijack Cinny hope you don't mind
Mind?! I'M FURIOUS...ly excited for baby Ali! Of course I don't mind
It's so weird, I swear it was only last week I was saying "oh, you've got plenty of time to get it sorted!" in terms of the nursery. What even is time right now!
I have to say, I really like Capaldi as the Doctor. I'm admittedly a few episodes behind, but that's more because I need to give the show 100% of my attention. Miss one word in a sentence and the rest of the show is dead to meI do think the creators, however, vastly underestimated how much the show was carried by "pretty" faces for the newer audience. They did an awesome job piling guilt in the first episode, I went to the cinema to watch it and had a little sob on the scene between Clara and 11 while 12 stood there like "LOVE ME THO I'M OLD PLZ" Although the majority of people I know who watched it are turning off
Feeling a lot better today though, thanksWas in bed before 9, but up before 6 and Ryder benefited from an extra walk so I could get more fresh air!
Will do a money post separately!0 -
Money Talk!!
Feel like Payday was over before it beganAfter bills, getting the savings up to £335 (:j) and shuffling pennies around I'm left with £25 for the week. I need to get creative!
I do owe a friend £7.50 for some Nakd bars. Hooowever, going to see if I can paypal her the money - as she knows I never have "money" money on me. If I do that, I can use the quidco money, and probably cash out my Qmee again to make it "free"
Little Car desperately needs some fuel, however. I do have some credit stored on my petrol account at the garage, so I could tap into that. Was hoping to save it for the Christmas season when we'll be all over.. and I only need £10. But it's an option to keep costs down if I need to
Shouldn't need to get any groceries this week, bar maybe some fresh greens.
In money making(ish?!) ways, I set up some fresh roboforms and started comping again. No guarantee but we've done well off them before, so fingers crossedReally seem to do this in fits and starts, but any extra goodies would be great with a certain season coming up!
Yesterday was a NSD, and I'm hoping after today we'll have a nice NS-Weekend. Cinema tomorrow, then taking Ryder on an adventure on Sunday. The weather is perfect for walking him now it's totally cooled down. They say a tired dog is a happy dog, but a tired and muddy dog is even better!
Hope everyone has a nice weekend0
