Hi Cinny, hope you had a great Christmas.
How is OH holding up? Hope you haven't found that the Christmas period have accentuated the blues. Do you cook? We're cheeky and still go back to parents!:heartsmil Stay-at-home-mummy of two, pinching the pennies but loving it! :heartsmilSpreadsheeter, piggybanker, envelope-system user!

Happy New Year Everyone!
About time I updated this diary
Had a lovely Christmas and feel thoroughly spoilt. My main present from OH, and I know how seemingly bad this sounds and I find it difficult to express my excitement without sounding sarcastic, was a steam generator iron! Used it three times alone yesterdayI just like ironing things..
Back on track and feeling focused for the New Year. OH's payday was yesterday and from that we put 3k into our savings bringing it up to £10,000. After some talks of goals and resolutions (as always happens in the NY!) We have decided to aim for 25k in savings by the end of the year.
I am a smidgen into my overdraft from the sales which I'm not overly keen on, but I'll be back in the black in a few paydays. We want to start using my wages to build up a little accessible emergency fund. And as I'm on a strict no-spend ban through January (and possibly straight through to my Birthday - although there are 3 Birthdays in the middle to account for!) I'm hoping this will come together quietly and quickly!
Will be looking at our Summer holiday later. We were given a gift voucher for Christmas from OH's parents for two nights stay down in Cornwall. With how far it is the plan is to take the two nights over a weekend, then get a cottage for the rest of the week. Nice to have something to look forward to
OH has an interview in just under an hour, this one looks pretty promising so I'm keeping everything crossed! I really just want him out of his current situation asap.
As for everything else, we're pretty much the same as last year! Just trying to be more proactive and positive about things that are headed our way.
Will try and update here more often, as I'm really wanting 2015 to be the year we fully slay it and become real adults with a house!0 -

Wow, your savings are seriously impressive! :T Good luck for reaching your target, I have a feeling you'll smash it by autumn!
A holiday in Cornwall sounds lovely.OH's cousin lives there (although the age gap between his mum and his cousin's mum is so big that said cousin is more like his auntie! Big families, eh?!), she's always offering to put us up it just seems sooooooo far to go that we keep putting it off!
It does look like they're permanently on holiday though, can see why they settled down there!
Hope your OH's interview went well! I will be sending slightly threatening vibes to the interviewer so s/he feels compelled to hire him!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Happy Friday Everyone!
Well the sad news is OH didn't get the job he applied for. He has, however, been put forward for a job higher up in the companyHe's been given some time to think about if he wants to go ahead and interview formally for it, so that's mostly what this weekend will be used for! I'm so proud of him though, from his first job and the prospects he had growing up to where he's got himself to. Stupid people making you sentimental.
So the talk of the new job lead to talks of where we'll buy a house, and OH said he'd happily buy a place in my hometown which is just perfect (to me!) so we had a gander at what we'd be able to afford and I was kinda of surprised to see we could afford a lovely family home on one of my favourite places. So fresh motivation! We've got this
No Spend January is also going really well! I'm keeping track of the moments when I do have to spend money - like when my foundation, blusher and power all ran out on the same morning. But I've only spent £27.10 on myself all month which is impressive for me!
Going to look at a new car for me tomorrow. After the other one fell through we've taken a few weeks to find another that looks like a winner. This one also has the bonus of only being £20 a year road tax :j Really hope this one fairs better as we do have the need for a bigger second car for the weekends, and my current little tin is starting to knock my driving confidence with how rickety it's becoming (it is almost as old as me!)
Out for a meal tonight but we have a voucher from Christmas to use to cut the cost. It's a surprise meal for my Sister and her Hubby with all the family secretly being there. So I'm really looking forward to it!
Other than that it's going to be a quiet one. Going to the cinema, and have all our meals planned out to make sure we spend as little as possible.0 -
Well done to your OH Cinny - is this the company he interviewed for or the one he works for now? Either way, well done him
Is tonight the doughnut burger place? Shame he didn't get the one he originally interviewed for but it's great that this better opportunity has come along.
Everything sounds so exciting for you at the moment; the prospect of buying a house where you want and a new car. Fingers crossed it all works out for you!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170
