  • i got some of that astonish all purpose cleaner while on holiday from the mr50 shop. it is brill isnt it. i hadnt found anything in the astonish range i dont like. DD2 informs me it is a good cruelty free cleaning range that she uses as she is vegan. I love it because it works, thanks for the heads up that aldi have it.

I often forget about the Astonish range as it's not stocked at any of the supermarkets I frequent, but you're right, all the products I have tried have been good and for the price, you certainly can't grumble. I even used it to clean inside of the glass oven door, it wasn't filthy-dirty but it had a lot of greasy spatters which weren't scouring off; gave it a quick swipe over with neat liquid, let it sit for five mins whilst I washed the oven liner and it wiped clean with a sponge. Similarly the cooker hood, in the past I have had to soak it in hot water and soda crystals for a couple of hours, then use Elbow Grease on the stubborn bits, but this time I just wiped and it was done. And unlike the oven door, the cooker hood really was bogging :o

iona.. putting the world to rights is serious business and sometimes flying needs to be put on a back burner.

Anyway, I made an important phonecall.. and avoided prison in the meantime.. a certain catalogue company had national lockdown because I dared to use my maiden name on a new account and then scrolled after setting my DOB on a drop down menu and knocked 20 years off my age.. if only that were so simple eh?! So anyway.. the world is a safe place once again :p

I also managed to bore the baby to sleep, lose my phone and the tv remote, moved stacking boxes out of my room onto the landing.. so about 7ft. I took the drawers out of DS2's chest of drawers and OH put the new ones in there.. that room is  .. there are no words!!, just !!!!!!!!

I am temporarily filling the new boxes with the floor gubbins so I can do a big furniture shuffle then it can be sorted neatly. I have 2 ebeast items to fling too.. :) one is quite large so will make a big difference on the landing.

I am delivering all the baby bits to DD1 today too and some of the very old stacking boxes so spam can have accessible toys rather than a scruffy cardboard box.

Cuppa first.. OH and Dot have gone to collect Squeak.

I was on a roll so I kept going until 12.15 :D Its made a big difference in the livingroom...what with me collapsing a bookcase which was set to be flung :j DD will be gutted that she didn't get to wield the electric screwdriver but she got to play with it enough when she put up all the bookcases last week :rotfl:

Monday DIY (lots of little jobs that'll take <5 min towards the end ;))
Gloss Paint touch up (by window, fire surround, meter cupboard, door frames)
Emulsion touch up ([STRIKE]back radiator underneath, behind pipes on front wall,[/STRIKE] along edges throughout, by door where DD has rubbed it away when trying to clean some spillage up :()
[STRIKE] Seal along earth cable box [/STRIKE]
Fix wallpaper under window again  (only noticed it had come away last night)
Radiator foil back - waiting on wet paint to dry
Pipe cover back - waiting on wet paint to dry
Collapse my wardrobe (falling apart so FLING! :D)
Chest of drawers upstairs - will need DDs help with this.
Order FF, bookcase, shelves (need to work out which bookcases & how many shelves to order)
    Other lampshade up
Deep clean floor to remove paint splashes
Rug out from understairs to be put back down - out but not to be put down just yet. Still need to clean the floor but needed it out of the way.
[STRIKE] Find sofa cover [/STRIKE] Under the stairs! So gone in the wash pile.
    [STRIKE] Put freezer back[/STRIKE]
    Put paint away understairs
[STRIKE] Put as much DIY stuff away as possible under stairs. [/STRIKE]
    Other:
[STRIKE] Pulled pork in SC (get wraps out of freezer for serving)[/STRIKE] Needs to marinade so beef in ale in instead.
    Bath (before DD gets home)
    Change bed
Laundry (much later on in the day)

    Monday - Kitchen
    15 Minutes..
[STRIKE] Clear and wipe the worksurfaces, only put back what belongs here [/STRIKE]
    30 minutes to spare..
Sweep and mop the floor, right into the corners and wipe any skirting boards kick boards
Wash out the washing machine drawer
    Got an hour...
    [STRIKE] Clear a hotspot[/STRIKE]
Are the spiders coming in from the cold, go on a cobweb hunt
    Wipe down some paintwork
Sort out the baking cupboard/pantry - use those almost empty packets as inspiration for something to bake this week

    Extra challenge:
Choose your messiest drawer and give it a good tidy, wipe out if you have the time
Renew library books, fill in that form you've been meaning too, check for birthdays in the next few weeks.
    - School trip general form! Only had it since July when it arrived with DD's report! It arrived after they had broken up for the summer so just got shoved in a drawer as I didn't want it getting lost :o

I have the feeling the steam mop is going to be working overtime trying to get all this paint that mostly DD has dribbled all over the floor

Going to have lunch and catch up on a programme and then I'll carry on with the painting.

Just did a sneaky hh weeding the lawn and reseeding patches, need to water it later.

Promised I'd make scones for the boys (after they spied the GF ones I'd made for myelf, oops) so I'll do that next and then another HH dusting and shower room wiping, quite pleased with my progress.

Such Flying as happens in the Wolf's Lair this week will be geared towards the kitchen refit, which is scheduled to begin next Monday, and other than that, just keeping the place done enough to be hygienic.

I've done 3 x WM today, one of which was the bathroom mats which were minging, and apart from the cleaning cloths, we're currently all up to date!:T I shall do the cleaning cloths on Wednesday after the dogs have gone, as I'm loaning them cloths to wipe the slobber and general garden muck off their tennis balls, and I might as well wash all the cloths in one hit.:D

They're off home Wednesday morning, and I won't be having any more guests til the kitchen's finished - it seemed the most sensible way to go.:o

And on the subject of September challenges / goals, please will everyone taking part give me a quick update on how you've got on this week, so that I can hopefully give out *lots* of stars for effort.
I know this was posted at the end of last week, but here's what I've done today that's directly challenge-oriented:
Sorted out all my candle-making supplies; ditched a load of used tea-light outers (I have refilled them in the past, but I had dozens there, far too many to be sensible) and rearranged the stuff on top of the wardrobes to fit the box of candle-making stuff up there out of the way, thus freeing up a bit of space in the spare room to take some kitchen stuff later on. General scout-round for anything else flingable/recyclable also done (bin/recycling day tomorrow) to eliminate space-hogging rubbish.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

just tackled a load more paperwork, DS2 has moved up from scouts to explorers so there was a raft of paperwork to go with that. Drum lessons start again tomorrow so they needed paying for. then i got a text reminding me about mils appt tomorrow, lucky i did she had misread the form and told me we were going to another hospital. ive had to ring to confirm and ring to let her know and get the taxi changed over to the other hospital. rang the cemetery to confirm that we had found the right grave at the weekend, yes we had so at least DH knows where one of his rellys is buried. (just seems weird having different names on the headstone - when his gran was buried it was a 'common grave' but then it was bought so she has another couple in with her and their headstone)

sofits person has been round to do survey, they are going to happen in the next couple of months.

going to get DS2 to help sort his kit out now and get it bagged up, he has to take it all into school tomorrow for a kit inspection.

    Hi

I have managed to do three loads of washing and drying, put away all cases etc from weekend, caught up with next door neighbour who I've not seen for ages and had a long chat with D sis.

Ionafan On the challenge front I have tidied dining room table enough to get a cloth on half of it!
Have identified the 4 recipes I'm going to try this month, Bacon and Pea risotto, Somerset pork and cabbage hotpot, Irish Beef stew - perhaps with dumplings and red wine and rosemary braised lamb shanks! Just need to check what extra ingredients I need.

Will start on the paperwork tomorrow after weigh in! It will be a very long job!!!

Have a good evening everyone. x
