The facts still remain; they placed a ticked on someones car after 12 seconds over a 40p parking offence and are seeking significantly more than their costs in damages.
I think that neither of those "facts" are facts, even although you would wish them to be so. Did you actually read Mr de Savary's piece? You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Well it seems 12 seconds is not a record try 9!

Clearly Mr Briant is being economical with the truth. I have looked on Google Earth and it would be impossible for anyone to park, get their elderly relatives our of the car, escort them to the shop and get back to their car in 9 seconds. Mr Briant then assaulted a parking attendant quiety performing his duties.
These are the sort of riff raff whom you are supporting, bilkers, BB chancers, and people who have no respect for the rights of landowners. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Any school that costs in excess of £30k a year IS extravagant to 99.9% of people.
I doubt it HB. Both my kids went to Public schools so I met many parents. None was mega rich, one was a dentist, one was my MP, one was a BOAC pilot, another owned a bridal shop. My own dentist, earning not more than £100,00 a year scrimped and saved to send his two children to a private school.
Many people want what the State does not offer, small classes, extra tuition, lots of sport, discipline. Some are prepared to pay for it, others spend their money on granite worktops, top of the range Beamers, hottubs and holidays in Sandals. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
When the UK average salary is £26.5k (so under £20k after tax), sending kids to £30k/year schools is extravagent. Even with 2 average earners you'd struggle to afford to send 1 child to school. I'm sure you could do it on £100k though, but that's 4 times the national average wage. You more or less confirmed it, since your list of normal people is an dentist, MP, Pilot and shop owner. You won't see many secretaries, teachers, nurses, or parking attendants in there. The facts still remain; they placed a ticked on someones car after 12 seconds over a 40p parking offence and are seeking significantly more than their costs in damages.

What makes neither of those facts facts? Because they don't suit you?
Running the numbers, assuming that all spaces are in use all the time, with no gaps or overlaps, that parking area generates £35/hour, or £29.16 before VAT (parking is at 20%?). National Minimum wage for over 21's is £6.31, so costs about £12.62 to the company in admin/salary costs, leaving £16.54/hour which has to cover the maintenance and rates for the site, and all the admin costs whilst generating a profit for the owner.
If the car park is only half utilized (generating £14.58 without VAT) then it likely doesn't even pay for the attendant.
There's no way it's making a profit without the PCN's.
And yes, I read Mr de Savary's piece, it reads like a well educated man who is trying to defend his business, and that means he's guaranteed to be somewhat biased. Writing ability doesn't correlate with honesty. Most politicians write eloquently and I wouldn't trust them to tell me if it was raining.
You seem to be pretty pro-PPC's, so I can see your bias. Just as I'm anti-PPC. I have problems with people abusing parking, but I don't agree with the solution - invoicing the hell out of inconsequential infringements is just robbery.0 -

I think you're being economical with the truth. He said the ticket was issued after 9 seconds, not that the driver took 9 seconds. The 9 second ticket would still say 9 seconds if he took an hour helping his passengers into the shop.
The assault you mention also appears to be exaggerated, from the linker article "he stuck a parking ticket on a traffic warden", which is technically assault if you're being picky, but almost no-one would reasonably assume so and it obviously helps the PPC's case to make it sound more severe.Sticking to the actual published facts, do you have any evidence that Mr Briant is being inaccurate or unreasonable?0 -
T D you do you include in "Riff Raff" ? A term you seem to enjoy using.0

I think where Mr. Bryant stuck the ticket is debatable:
"......when he stuck a parking ticket on a traffic warden".
".....Mr Briant removed the ticket from the car and stuck it to the window".
"....I took the ticket off and gave it back to him".
Typical bad journalism make your own mind up!0 -

Indeed, if you are on a low salary you are disadvantaged in many ways, housing, health care, nutrition, leisure activities, however, there asre enough people earning consideratbly more than the average salary to support the large number of public schools we have on this country.
No Herzlos. I am not a fan of PPC either. I thoroughly disapprove of the way they operate. I do however believe that businesses should be allowed to make a fair profit. Those who contribute the most should not be asked to support the !!!!less and the idle.
I am certainly not a believer that we are all as deserving as each other, as a certain multi millionaire Islington Socialist would have us believe. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
So the Irish version of the F word is also now hit by the censorship filter? !!!! it!0
