I hate it when the summer ends. Along comes the endless months of 'christmas' (which IMO should only be every 2 years anyway), crappy weather, wet washing, layers of clothes, bare garden, muddy floors, high energy bills, fireworks, trick and freaking treating. Yuk, hate it. The only nice thing about it is the autumnal trees.

Christmas should be once every 4 years. I can cope with the World Cup that frequently, and the Olympics, although having them in London in 2012 did get a bit tiring...

And add to the hate list, short days and only seeing daylight at the weekends if you work in an office with no windows, which OH does, and I just have to put up with the complaints... :)

  • Yay - it's starting to turn now with the temp. down this week or so, and how this affects nature, with the big cobwebs in dew, and the trees in an array of colour. I've waited v. patiently for the summer to end (jeezus!! way toooo hot it was that 'orrible month in July!) and now I'm sleeping more snugly and looking forward to my annual cold holiday somewhere not too warm (still looking!)

And I was a winter baby, so bang goes that theory ;)

I'm with you on this. Although I love autumn I dislike winter with a passion.

Any other season is ok with me. I love the move from summer to autumn when it's still sunny and bright but a bit cooler, the air is fresher... if that makes sense.

I hate not being able to get the washing dry and having to turn the central heating on. We are in serious need of a new heating system so it's noisy and I fear it exploding and flooding the house :o Then all the Christmas fuss and getting squashed in the shopping chaos.

I wish summer would never end. It's my favourite season because people just seem happier at this time of year IMO.
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.
  • Yup, I'm with you on this one: autumn is my favourite time of year by far and I always get a sense of rejuvenation once September arrives (although I don't regard it as autumn until after the equinox): lots of new things/course to try, cooler weather, the rustle of leaves on walks and cosy evenings in. Not bothered about Christmas though, most of it passes me by.
Winter is ok, because it means spring is round the corner which is also very lovely. Cold crisp sunny winter days are fab.
I'm a end of summer/cusp of autumn baby.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I'm with you. I find summer a chore. I don't like hot weather. Don't like all the bloody bugs that flap around aimlessly in my face. Don't tend to sleep well in the summer. Don't like the local kids shouting and screaming until 10pm or later.

Much prefer winter. I like winter clothing. I like the days being shorter. I sleep A little better so I concentrate better. I like having the glow of the fireplace on a winters evening.

I also like how the cold callers who ignore my sign politely telling them to jog on tend to leave me alone when it gets colder.

There is the minor issue of the local kids assuming my locked gate on Halloween means I've opted for 'trick'.
