    No idea, you're asking the wrong person, never been abroad. I am guessing if you are holidaying in the UK, it makes more sense to book during the summer, but I get your point, I am wondering too now - maybe just sunworshippers

    I guess because if you're going this side of the equator - like lots of us do to spain, greece, cyprus etc then it's also their summer, and colder in winter like here. The other thing is that the kids have their long holidays in the summer so some really have no choice when to book their long holidays.

    I am a big fan of Autumn too. Not so fond of winter, (short days, long nights, too cold,) and I like Spring. Summer is often too hot for me.
    You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:

    We always book our "summer holiday" in months that aren't summer. However, it's mainly because I couldn't handle the heat in Italy in July/August so if I want to go to a hot country, I have to go another time of year!
  • I'm already getting sad as I watch the evenings get dark earlier and the mornings get light later.
    I dislike Winter with it's cold and general greyness. Bare trees, rain and mud looks so miserable for months.
    I hate being almost constantly cold and getting numb fingers and toes even while wearing woolly gloves and socks (I have a degree of Reynaud's). Daren't turn up the heating much as it costs a fortune!

    I loathe the desperation of the new Christmas season, forced by the retailers, which now apparently begins at the end of August :mad: . It was originally a mid-Winter feast to brighten up the darkest days, now it's simply a mission to get as much money from our wallets as possible. I hate Christmas. It's so fake.

    I'm an Autumn child.
  • I hate summer. Too hot, too dry, major wildfire risk where I live. A/c and water costs are high. Autumn and winter are my times of year (and I'm a winter baby). I love the dark nights, cold weather (the colder the better), snow (we get a lot of snow where I live). I love snowsports, winter clothes and colours, the run up to Christmas with all the sparkly lights and Christmas trees etc (though not Christmas itself as we don't have anyone to spend it with in this country).

    I don't understand though why people think it's acceptable to complain about winter but not summer. I had a grumble about the hot weather earlier this summer on Facebook and got a couple of catty comments from friends. Yet they're the first people to whinge about winter and everyone agrees with them???

    I agree; most people seem to have an attitude that summer is good and everyone should be happy, and if you dare to complain about the weather then you're being miserable and ruining their fun. They assume that you're the same person who moans about winter therefore you're "never happy". As a result, I rarely complain about summer/hot weather to anyone except for my family and maybe the odd friend who knows me well enough. I just leave everyone else to enjoy summer, and then when they're all moaning about winter, I just let it all wash over me because I'm the one enjoying the weather for a change :)

    I am happy too, OP :D

    I don't like summer purely because I can't handle hot weather. Living in Scotland means that I can just about cope with summer but it is still regularly too warm (my idea of "hot" seems to be different to other people as well; colleagues will be moaning it's not hot enough meanwhile I'm finding it far too warm!). This summer has been particularly bad because my current workplace is so warm inside the building and I feel like I'm sitting in a sauna. I do however like it being light late until the evening.

    Judging from the posts on MSE during the warmer weather, you are not alone.

    I don't mind warm or cold but I prefer warm. In fact very warm. It's not the temperature that depresses me in autumn/winter, its the overriding dreachness of the period. Last winter it must have rained every day for three months. How can anybody like that?
