Summer is over..

..and I am so happy. This really is my favourite time of year, long nights, cold weather, the run up to Christmas (not the commercialism, but the Christmas fairs, festivals, church activities, family time) and the rest. Maybe it's because I'm a Winter baby, but Spring and Summer have always just depressed me and I was probably the only child who couldn't wait for the Summer holidays to be over!
Does anyone else feel the same or am I just strange?
You are not alone. I also love this time of year!
Early Sept through to New year's day. So many things going on. Parties and festivals galore! I like Spring and summer, but love the autumn and early winter and Christmas SO much.

I hate winter and the dark. I get up in the dark and come home from work in the dark so don't see much day light during the winter and find it depressing.
I love the Spring when everything is fresh and green and the buds starting to come out and the lovely bright, crisp mornings and with Summer still to come. Just cold and dark to look forward to now.
I also hate the problems with travelling to work...standing on a station platform in the cold and dark waiting for a train that's not going to turn up due to frozen points, leaves on the line, flooding, wrong type of snow...Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Got to admit, I LOVE love winter, autumn also... however, it is nice when spring rolls around, only because by then I'm ready for some warmth. I grew up in a very hot country, 40 - 45+ in summer time and not much of a winter. I used to deliberately go out in the rain as a young teenager just so I could walk in the rain (with a brolly). I only like warm weather when I'm on holidays - I love walking on the beach in the sunshine but hot weather needs to be on my terms - shorts, t-shirts, swimming etc... hate it when I have to schlep around in work clothes in the heat.
Much prefer sitting by a fire with a good book and glass of wine and then snuggling into a warm bed.
I also love snow. Yes, I'm going to admit it! Didn't see it until I was 26 so still a joy to look out. I don't like walking or driving in it to be fair, but nothing better when the city is twinkling and snow is falling....0 -
I also hate going to work/coming home in the dark however I love the cosy nights - I love football so winter is better than summer in that respect, I love family times near Christmas, I love snow, I love hot chocolate.
I also love warm evenings in the garden, music festivals, bright mornings and harvest. I don't enjoy being too hot to sleep, men walking around topless and sitting at work during the lovely weather.
There are benefits over every bit of the year.0 -
I hate this time of year. I find it very depressing, especially gloomy November with Remembrance Sunday and poppies. I don't like the comic relief or whatever it is about that time. I hate the short days, the rain and wind and mists, the cold; having to put on the heating, never being able to go out without putting on coat, boots etc, the car windscreen always icy or misty.
I hate it when the kids knock on the door at Halloween and the fireworks. The only sign of light is when the shortest day arrives and then I start to feel a bit better as the days start to lengthen. Christmas is okay although NYE is depressing and then January starts to feel like spring is on the way and February is almost March and spring.
April, May and June are my favourite time of the year. Light evenings, the Eurovision, the London Marathon, Wimbledon, Glastonbury, Air shows, the leaves coming on the trees, blossom, flowers coming through, warmth in the air etc.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
I am happy too, OP

I don't like summer purely because I can't handle hot weather. Living in Scotland means that I can just about cope with summer but it is still regularly too warm (my idea of "hot" seems to be different to other people as well; colleagues will be moaning it's not hot enough meanwhile I'm finding it far too warm!). This summer has been particularly bad because my current workplace is so warm inside the building and I feel like I'm sitting in a sauna. I do however like it being light late until the evening.
September to December is definitely my favourite time of year. I'm always glad to see the back of summer (just to know that I won't have to worry about being too warm and permanently uncomfortable anymore). There are lots of family birthdays in Sept/Oct; I like Halloween and Guy Fawkes night; I like looking forward to Christmas because I enjoy all of my family having time off work at the same time and we all get together multiple times over the festive period and that family time is what it's all about
I also love winter sunsets, wearing LAYERS and scarves, cosy evenings indoors, candles/firelight, autumn colours in the trees, the fact that you don't have to cut the grass every second week, and I even love the rain and snow.
Feb/March is probably my least favourite time of year - Christmas comedown, everyone dieting, weather can sometimes get a bit too cold, and I've probably used up my annual leave over Christmas so I have to wait awhile before I can have another day off! Fortunately spring isn't far away and the days starting getting lighter so everyone cheers up... (unfortunately that also reminds me summer will be back soon!)0 -
I am exactly the same! Also a winter baby

I love the rain, the cold, the dark evenings and excuses to snuggle up with hot chocolate. My dogs get better walks in winter because I like going outside more. I hate summer. It's nice for about a week and then I'm sick of it. My new job is 20 miles away on bendy roads though so I may not be saying this after so many days I can't get in and go unpaid for..!0 -
I love Autumn with it's crisp clear mornings & all the beautiful colours.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

I could truly live in summer all year around. 26 degrees is my favourite temperature (yes I have one
). I like not having to bother with loads of cluttery clothing like jumpers and coats. We get out of the door so much quicker without having to faf about getting the kids bundled up with gloves and scarves and hats.
I hate the gloom and the mud of autumn. Yes it's pretty on the trees for about a week until all of the trees drop their leaves all over my driveway. The leaves then end up blown/walked into the hall. It's muddy and depressing because it signals months ahead of damp dreary greyness.
I really hate it all and I'm a winter baby.:A
