Had to send mine back to play.com today. The wifi was awful and I didn't have the guts to open it up and check the internal aerial.
Shame really as apart from the wifi problem I really loved the device.0 -
.... Can recommend you install Canola - a great media player, and also MaemoMapper .....
Also can recommend getting a 2GB card for it - I got one from dvd.co.uk for £19.98 - no hassles at all.
Can you post links to these apps (and urls, names for application manager to get these going?!)
Also the 2g flashdo you use that for data, virtual memory ? What sort of speed is the memory from dvd.co.uk is there a link?
Thanks for all the info about this.Seth.0 -
I was after screen or vent mountable holder for the N770 for GPS use would something like this do or do I need a holder that will take the n770 horizonatally?
http://www.morpethmobiles.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=87a%2DMB
Also please post success /failure with BT sat nav units
Finally I was after a car charger / power lead for the N770
Ideall I want a car charger to USB (I think I have this: Car to USE / PSP from play £2.99) so if I get this http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2538 is should be enough need to check the cable lengths as this USB to nokia is short.Seth.0 -

Maybe you should have contacted Nokia instead, as then you could have got a replacement with another 770 or maybe even a 800.Wins 2007 :Boots £125, XBOX 360 & 3 games 2008:5 David Gray CDs £10 DVD voucher 2 Crossed Bones DVD & chocolate Torch. Chap at work contacted Nokia and they sent him offers on the N800 very cheap and other goodies as these are not mainstream units they are sold at a loss and customers for them seem to get special care!Seth.0 -
For the best quality protectors check out this post:

For a cheap protector look here:

Went for 2 of these http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.204
as these are the same as the Hori ones minus the install card order 1 Hori for the card!

Also got the USB to N770 power lead

Paid via paypal but opted for "bill me in US$" so I got the Visa rate not the Paypal rate. Only do this if you have a zero loaded credit card, I used a build society one. Check the MSE main site for low cost foreign money credit card options
Thanks Shimsham
I got the other protectors for PSPs! Same size as the N700 (bit larger so some trimming for the N770 depending on make)
These are the high end protectors not the cheaper sticky ones.
Check the link Shimsham posted for more info, deal extreme are cheap for this and memory adapters. Flash memory cheaper at play.Seth.0 -
I also had ordered one of these from MobileFun.com a couple of weeks ago, but they just kept putting back their dates for it being in stock - even though their site claimed it was in stock when I ordered it. I phoned them up and they kept promising it would be in stock 'tomorrow' or 'soon'. I cancelled my order and got it from Play.com instead. I don't know if Play still have it, but if you do order it from them you may not get a plug adapter bundled in with it, in which case you need to ring them up and they will send one out.
Very pleased indeed with the 770 - it's a nifty little device. Can recommend you install Canola - a great media player, and also MaemoMapper - mapping software that you can get to map out a route for you and it will download all the maps for the route so you can use them offline.
Also can recommend getting a 2GB card for it - I got one from dvd.co.uk for £19.98 - no hassles at all.
I cancelled my order with mobilefun yesterday, everwhere else seems out of stock does anyone know where you can get one of these for a similar price and in stock.0 -

Out of curiosity, where at Nokia did he contact? I can say with 100% certainty that you don't get that if you call the normal Nokia Careline. In fact, I'm not even sure if you'd get it fixed under warranty - they're aware now that UK companies are selling non-UK devices.0 -

The catalogue details for Canola that you need to add are
Web address : http://openbossa.indt.org.br/canola/repository/770
Distribution: mistral
Component: user
And for MaemoMapper
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras
Distribution: mistral
Components: free non-free
The card I got from DVD.CO.UK was a 2 GB Kingston Mobile MMC card - seems fine. I read somewhere that the Mobile MMC cards are faster than the RS-MMC variety - but that might be just a rumour.
Regarding what you can use the card for - either you can just use it for data (music, mapping files, video, documents) - or you can make the 770 dual bootable so that the O/S and all the apps boot from the card rather than the built in memory. This means that
a) You can install more applications on the 770
b) The 770 will be quicker
For details look at the following link

Have Fun!0
