  • Good news!! Got the money I have been waiting for so that's the payday loan paid off completely. That will be the last one ever!!!!

Took something back to the shop today after I bought the wrong thing by accident so that's another £15 back into the account.

Hopefully more updates about finances soon.

Perfectly said, Helen. I totally agree:T
  • So it's day 10 and all is still going good. 10 days was my first milestone. My next one is to get to Xmas without falling off the wagon.

So I reported that the payday loan had gone and never you be seen again. Well I had 900 on a credit card with a hefty interest rate but I've managed to open a new card with 14 months 0% balance transfer. Obviously I transfered over the balance so I have just over a year to get rid of it. It has a £1.5k limit so I'm just over half which is manageable. I'm thinking about closing down the other card. In fact this will be done.

With regards to savings, I have none at the moment. I am due £1,000 from a family member so I always have that to fall back on. I am keeping it in cash incase I need it for car repairs / urgent bills! If it's in cash and in my tin I know how much I have at all times and it is under control.

I will save the loans scenario for another day, it's depressing enough with the savings / credit cards talk.

Feeling OK, had an urge about 5 minutes ago but thought 'no'. Logged on here and I'm back to normal. :rotfl:

Sleeping and exercising well too which should a bonus. Can't wait for the the Xmas drinks and chocolate though :D

When's the Xmas decorations going up everyone?

  • I put my tree up yesterday but it's in my back room so the neighbors can't judge me.

Loved waking up to it this morning

Well done on your progress !

  • Just had another urge, hence popping on here and reading / updating.

Day 11 completed so far with no issues. Kept busy all day but last hour has been bad mentally, just keep having those urges. Will not give in though. Can't afford to :rotfl:

I don't put up any decorations until 12 days before Xmas and I take them down 12 days after. It was an old family tradition which I better follow.

Another refund of £40 today for taking back an unwanted item. It won't last though as I hosting a family dinner next Thursday.

    Hope everyone is well,

Hello, I'm new. I was just wondering if going off grid would work for you. An old Nokia and no laptop etc. I realise it would mean you'd lose the support on here but old fashioned ways seem to work for you - cash in envelopes etc. But then there is no way to gamble or apply for credit. You wouldn't be able to change your standing orders?

Or maybe add your mortgage deposit onto your debt list? To motivate you more?

I've massively relapsed since having so much success. Found the next credit card too daunting. I'm keeping up on making payments but spending like nuts!!!! Just see Christmas presents for the kids and I spend!! Feel like crap :( but statements come in and I'm drawing a line. You can too :) keep foing, don't give up x

  • Back to day 1 im afraid. Silly silly me.

Wont go into detail but im no worse off but could have paid lots of my loans off if i didnt chase losses etc. Maybe its best the winnings are gone.

Started reading my book again today - hopefully this keeps my mind busy.

Next step - beat last times days and get to xmas without gambling.

If only I could see what its doing to me. 2015 had been bad, lets hope my good run till new years helps me to a better 2016
