Day 2 - Feeling better and feeling more optimistic about how i need to change.
Going out shopping at lunch time today for some xmas presents. I have given myself £3 for lunch too so hopefully pick up a nice sandwich / salad.
Being very careful with my cash and most spends are joint so come from joint account. December had been a bit of a tight month so far though.
Hoping to put up the xmas devorations when i go home tonight. Need to make the place feel more festive :rotfl:
Going to update soon with my outstanding debts.
MrCFSaving for that dream holiday0 -
Current debts
Credit cards
Capital One - £507
MBNA - £956 (14 months balance transfer 0%)
Loans - all are rough current balances!
Nationwide £7370 (26 months of £307 remaining)
Hitatchi £3400 (20 months of £190 remaining)
Tesco £11200 (21 months of £538 remaining)
Savings
I have about £350 in cash and am due about £900 from a family member. Incase I have an emergency, il keep the £350 cash until I get the money from the family member. Once I get this, my plan is to pay off and close down the capital one card. The rest of the cash will be kept at home and not in the bank as it will only dissapear.
I can pay off the MBNA credit card monthly no problem. Things will be tight tho as those debts add up to over £1k monthly.
This means I have a very hard 24 months ahead but nevermind. I can only blame myself.Saving for that dream holiday0 -

well im back to day 2 again after an unsuccessful wednesday. nearly onto day 3 though which is good enough for me.
going to commit to posting everyday to motivate me a bit more.
had a long hard few days. alot of thinking and being emotional but like you guys have said i can only move forward.
on the up, I FINALLY STARTED READING AGAIN. Finished a book last night and il be starting a new one after dinner.
away to update signature and new debt totals after wednesdays !!!! up!

one day at a time - keep posting
best wishes0 -
And that's why I love reading, I just can't put this new book down. Wow the power of books is something special. This is what I have missed the last few months. I will keep reading and forgot about gambling!!!!!
Here is the money situation. It isn't good at all but something that can only be worked on I suppose.
Outstanding loans.
Loan 1 - £7992 - 26 months left at £307 a month
Loan 2 - £3803 - 20 months left at £190 a month
Loan 3 - £11301 -21 months left at £538 a month
Total loan monthly repayments - £1035! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Now onto the credit cards. This has increasd significantly since last time and unfortunetly they are at their limits. The only good thing here is I have no money at all to waste so maybe it will make me more determind?
Credit Card 1 - £918/£1000
Credit Card 2 - £1440/£1500
I have about £100 to my name and I am still to get the £900 from a family member so I do and will have money to sort out the cards. Even if its only getting them down a few £££ each it will help. Even if I manage just above the minimum payments I will be happy as it will keep the card active and show me repaying the debt. I was hoping one of the loan providers would allow me a payment holiday for a month just to help clear the credit cards but their websites say they don't allow them
The only issue is my wage is only about £1950-£2050 a month now. So with my loan payments and my contribution to the joint account, it leaves me with pennies to pay for car insurance, fuel and mobile.
I also need to keep a few £££ away for car repairs and this will be in the next few weeks as its on its last legs. Obviously I can't exactly afford a new car so this one has to be repaired and i'll need to keep it for at least 2 years.
Anyway, I have to do this and make it right for 2016. I have promised myself that if I gamble again I have to tell OH. I need to do it for the relationship and any chance of contributing to the mortgage and the possibility of moving in years to come.
When I look back, I am disappointed but not everyone is perfect. The next 20-26 months will be a hard slog but I have my books and MSE :rotfl:
I will now update everyday and the post will be about the previous days activities/spends if any. No point updating in the morning and talking about a day that hasn't begun yet :rotfl:

You really sound focused...:j
I seem to live with pennies in the pocket each month as I too pay a lot out on debts/bills.
I tend to get through the month by trying to cut back on the food bill and by taking lunches to work. Why not offer to do the shopping to help out your partner? Prepare list, go on my supermarket.com and enter what you need for the week and it will tell you which is the cheapest supermarket for your groceries (you can purchase on line as well). What you save in groceries could go towards fuel?
Maybe try not to use the car as much this month also and then you can save on fuel?
Just a few suggestions on what I do to stretch the pennies if its a particularly tight month.0 -
What stands out to me is that you are on a really good income for your age.
In 2 years you can be debt free, still young and earning a decent amount to save each month.
You've got the potential to be in a really good position, in a relatively short period of time.Mortgage Start - August 2013 £145,000 ************ Balance at April 2017 - £59,000

Morning everyone. It's lovely to have the weekend off to relax.
Day 3 was completed yesterday with no issues. I went into town to get a few last minute presents for those family members we forgot about
My book is going really good, very engrossed and struggling to put it down haha.
takingcontrolatlast - Thanks for your input. I'm only using the car when I have to as it doesn't sound safe at the moment :rotfl: and the fact I can't afford the fuel..
freshcotton - Yes my wage is good for someone of my age. If you go back further in my diary though you will see it was a lot less. I've had to pull out of my pension contributions in the next few years to be able to repay the debts. Once i'm back on my feet I will go back into it though and work have guaranteed I can do this. Seeing as I will most likely be working till i'm over 60 anyway there is plenty time to contribute to this anyway.
Really hoping the family member gives me my money soon. It will give me some breathing space hopefully.
Today's plans are to relax, clean the house and watching the football.
