I think in current times 2hrs is probably cutting it fine at many airports, with 3hrs being more reasonable. You were probably slowed down in security by people with flights after yourself.
You don't have a contract with the airport, and the airline will of course blame them. I can't imagine they'll pay up easily, and I'm unsure of the legal chances here. I'm not sure your travel insurance would pay either.Sorry, I understand the barcode system - I mean surely the time it took for them to search for our luggage they could have just let us on!
Just FYI, but it's not as simple as just letting you on. If they did, they would most likely have to add additional fuel to the plane which would not have been possible as they'd then miss their take off slot.
All airlines (especially low cost) only load the fuel they need to as it makes the aircraft heavier and hence cost more.Legal team on standby0 -

But the OP had successfully checked in - wouldn't the fuel for the aircraft already have her accounted for in the calculations?0 -
I would definitely hold Ryanair responsible. Their website states:Bag Drop Desks
We recommend that passengers travelling with checked baggage should arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure. Bag drop desks close strictly 40 minutes prior to departure. You must have paid any checked baggage fees and/or excess baggage charges and deposited your checked baggage at a Bag Drop desk no later than 40 minutes before scheduled departure time.
Not only you followed their recommendation, but surely, by checking your luggage in the first place, they provided you with some assurance that you were going to board the flight.
I am sure there would be a case to say that they have a duty of providing adequate and reliable information, which they have failed to do both on their website and at the baggage claim desk.0 -

My understanding is that it's based on people who actually board - exactly for this sort of situation. Fueling stops essentially when they close the gate to get the final fuel dead on.Legal team on standby0 -

.
You do not need a contract to take some one to Court.
Personally I would be looking a negligencePrivate Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA0 -
No 814man, they aren't relevant to this thread. The OP was at security 1hr 50min before the flight. EMA are to blame here.
Agree. It shouldnt take even an hour to clear security. I have never paid for fast track anywhere and I dont think we have ever been any longer than 20/25 minutes ANYWHERE0 -
My son and DIL flew from Manchester and got called through as his flight was announcing last call for boarding. They both had to run to get there on time.
Now that may be ok for some but I am disabled and have mobility issues. If this were to happen to me I couldn't sprint to the boarding gate to save my life never mind catch a plane. Even when they see me using a walking stick they won't let me through the disabled check point. Only wheelchair users are allowed that privilege.
What do I have to do? We usually arrive 2.5 to 3 hours or as soon as check in opens to make sure we have plenty of time - what do I do if we have a jobsworth on security queue? Make a fuss and then see all the others shaking their heads and muttering 'pulling the disabled thing' and rolling their eyes!
I don't ask for special treatment and will queue with everyone else but the implications of long delays in security for me could be disastrous!!Mags - who loves shopping0 -
Magnolia,
Why don't you book special assistance at the airport and use their wheelchairs? Costs nothing and will save you the stress and anxiety plus ensures you get to the gate on time.0 -
Pride lewroll - pure pride! I may end up in a wheelchair sometime in the future but for now I like my independance. I can still walk but just a bit slower then I used to.
Might email LBH and see what they suggest. If I inform them early enough there should be no problems.Mags - who loves shopping0
