East Midlands Airport Missed flight - where do I stand?

We fly regularly from EMA and have complained numerous times regarding the time spent in security being controlled by the Gestapo they do not care a monkies about the issue.
The only way to get any action is to boycott the airport, also last xmas we waited in the snow to get into passport control, again money being spent in the wrong areas0 -
just remembered I looked on Forums4Airports website at Leeds/Bradford airport forum and they were saying on there that LBIA have shifted a lot of flights so they all leave around 7 am so they can employ people on the early shift and then don't need as many people on longer contracts during rest of the day. People on full time contracts were apparently being laid off and replaced with more part time staff. Don't know if there's any truth in it but it certainly isn't to help us passengers0

Can you out a figure on the time it took from joining the queue at security to getting through it?0

Personally, if it was me, & I got no satisfaction from EMA I would go down the Small Claims Route.
That will soon get their attentionPrivate Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA0 -
in my post a couple above this one I should have said it was apparently Jet2 laying off the staff, not the airport itself. Jet2 have their own check in area at the airport and the queue was ridiculous0

Flight 6am Saturday morning.
Checked in online & printed boarding passes
Arrived at airport 4am. Dropped off baggage.
Got in queue for Security check. Queue mile long.
We fly out Sunday morning from here so thanks for the info. Express lane doesn't open until 5am so can't book that. We will now get there a bit earlier than planned. Fortunately we decided to book a hotel room so we don't have to drive down0 -
Fill your boots
Check-in
Check in desks open 2-3 hours before the flight is due to depart. East Midlands Airport recommends arriving at the terminal at least 2 hours before departure, even if you are using online check in.

I think that you would need legal advice: technically it is the airline that is the airport's customer rather than you, so the legal issues would be rather complex. Again, the costs that the OP suffered (loss of a flight; the time of two professional people wasted during the journey to another airport; other costs abroad and missing a business meeting) probably add up to more than the limit for 'small claims', which is only a few thousand.0 -
Thanks for all of the responses so far.
I did not check in a the Airport, did it online & printed boarding passes.
Literally took the suitcases to the luggage drop off and then went straight to the security queue.
There was 100% no express lane and 100% nobody called out for our flights.
Security told me at least 3 times to wait in line, no pushing in allowed and that we would be fine and would make our flight!
Not even a toilet or drink stop.
Ryanair staff told me I could not board the plane as it was too late even after explaining all that had happened.
I got my suitcase back no problem - can someone explain to me how this works? I actually borrowed my daughters suitcase so it actually had her name & address on the tag.
I just feel so exhausted and stressed from it all.
Have called both Ryanair & EMA - both told me to put my complaint in writing, which I am in the process of. She confirmed EMA is owned by Manchester airport.
Thank you again0 -

When you checked your bag in they will have a baggage tag printed off with your flight details, destination and your name. This is assigned to your name irrespective of what details are on the actual bag
When someone does not turn up at the gate they must offload any hold bags assigned to that passenger. Within the system they will check the name and see if there was any bags checked in and find the bag tag numbers. They then will search the hold for those tag numbers to get them off (ignoring any other tags on the bag)0
