Great hampers aliaslot! Where did you get the black containers from? I bought what they call a 'medium bamboo basket' from Wilko last week in the section next to the Christmas gift wrap. It was £2.50 but I am thinking it is slightly small and am looking for something bigger but don't really want to pay more than £5 for one. I'm hoping to go to B&M next week and HB. They are a bit of a trek - 30 mins drive. If anyone spots anything that might be good, please let me know
I did my first hamper last year for my auntie - food related. Auntie & Uncle both enjoyed it - so am hoping to recreate the same this year but will be making some of the contents this year!

They are actually a dark brown colour - plastic, mock wicker things. I got them from Morrisons - reduced to £1.20 each. I found them with the seasonal things. The last two in my local store, so I snapped them up... The box for the pamper hamper was from Store 21 - that is a full sized canvas basket with handles - was only £3.0 -
Hi all, loving your ideas but unfortunately we live nowhere near any of our family so hampers are a no go thanks to needing to post everything
I did make a xmas eve hamper for our boys last year though and it went down really well so I'm planning to make another this year. They will be 4&6 so I fill it with things to occupy them on their own so I can get on with 'stuff' and also something to do all together. Also bedtime things to encourage a relatively stress free end to the day. It is delivered in the morning by Buddy our Elf on the Shelf.
So far I'm thinking:
Hot choc, marshmallows and xmas mugs
Xmas biscuits/sweets
New xmas dvd (if I can find one we don't already have!)
Craft activity and where's santa activity book with xmas pens etc.
Gingerbread house kit
Small lego set
Xmas pj's, dressing gown and slipper socks.
Toothbrush, flannel, bath bomb
Xmas story book
Reindeer food and letter from Santa reminding them to be good and go to bed early lol
I'm also going to look for a wicker basket etc to put it in this year seeing as I expect to carry it on for a few years. I used a cardboard box covered in wrapping paper and lined with shredded tissue last year which looked good considering I whipped it up at the last minute on the 23rd lol.0 -

That sounds awesome, the list of goodies sound great too. I think it's a great idea, and i might do that myself when LOs are older. They're currently 2yrs and 10 wks old so have a feeling it'll be lost on the eldest until next year.
Have decided to make my own hamper for OH's lawyer friend. A very unlikely friendship through the pub and he has very expensive taste and is well travelled.
I've looked around at hampers as he likes his wines and food and decided it would make more sense to make my own up with larger items than spend more on miniatures.
I popped into Tesco yesterday and picked up the following: The deli ham + cheese crisps (posh looking!), jacobs savours cheese thins and some caramelised red onion chutney.
My OH will help me pick out a bottle of wine and i'm hoping to get a small box of chocolates and some shortbread, maybe a mini xmas pud too. Bit stuck with the savoury side of it and was hoping people would have some suggestions please? Got some great ideas for other hampers on here and loving the thread0 -
Can I just ask you all where you get your cellophane wrap from?
I can see 10m X 80cm wrap on Amazon for approx £5.99 - is this about right or can I get it cheaper elsewhere?Hezzawithkids wrote: »Try ebay, there are quite a few sellers on there, its where I got mine from last year. In the past other people have suggested trying florists but when I approached my local one I was told categorically (and quite rudely) that they didn't sell it separatelyput me off trying anywhere else.
Not sure if its any use, but i work for Card Factory and we sell cellophane in bags (we use them to wrap up teddy bears etc each season), small, medium, large and by metre. it's £1 for small, £2 for medium and £3 for large. Unsure of how much cost by metre. I regularly have customers coming in just for the bags to do prizes/presents.
I don't know the measurements and i'm on maternity leave atm so unable to check, but if you have a store nearby it might be worth an ask for anyone after any. Sorry if this doesn't help lol!0 -

Hello everyone
All your hampers seem to be coming along swimmingly and are looking fab - it's great coming in here to get some inspirationI'm nowhere near being able to put mine together - really need a day to sit down and make a spreadsheet of everything needed (I really love spreadsheets, especially colour coding them - yes yes I know I'm sad ;-) )
I was hoping some of you hamper aficionados may be able to help me - I'm looking for a large wicker style basket thing (lol). I got some nice ones from H&B last year which I plan to use for most people (the smaller ones stop you spending too much!) but I'm wanting to make up a family hamper for my friend who has a 3 year old and 10 month old triplets! so I'm looking for something a little bigger, but don't want to cut a big wedge out of my budget to buy the basket. I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas on where to look or a different idea on what to use - I'm open to it all
Thanks guys0 -
Fireyangel - just a thought might be too big but what about a banana box - if you ask at thr supermaket there really strong boxes, when I worked at a supermarket we use to use them for newspaper returns and we regularly had customers asking for them for house removals, you could wrap Xmas paper around it xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
