Fireyangel - just a thought might be too big but what about a banana box - if you ask at thr supermaket there really strong boxes, when I worked at a supermarket we use to use them for newspaper returns and we regularly had customers asking for them for house removals, you could wrap Xmas paper around it xx
Hmm thanks for that, interesting idea - I'll definitely have a look into that! Could be a handy size and doesn't require any payment, even better!:T0 -
I have 4 hampers I am attempting to do (on a budget!) have looked at different baskets etc but in the end, in home bargains I decided to put the items in a medium ish sized christmas bag. perfect size for all the items to go in each and inexpensive at 59/69p each

Dormouse, sorry for the delay, yes, mum2one is right, I got them in Poundland. They have two different designs (both 50's/pinup inspired) and have also got a lovely little manicure set to match.
FieryAngel - how about a laundry basket? Think HB had them for about £3.99 and B&M had some but can't remember how much. Good luck!
Carlisle Lass, have seen them somewhere but can't remember where. Hope someone else can help. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Hello,
Love your hamper thread! Been desperate to do one but don't really have anyone to hamper this year. However I was brainstorming for a wee gift for the teachers at dd's school and thought about a small hamper for the staff room. Thought tea, coffee, biscuits? Any other suggestions?
I've seen those rattan tray things in HB and thought that would be ideal...
Thanks in advance

Already been on the hunt for some hamper bits and got some great bargains the last few days. I'm making about 5 hampers, 2 for couples and 3 for female friends who "have everything".
I found a small jar of gingerbread instant coffee in sainsburys for £2.50, perfect for a foodie hamper.
Also noticed today Asda have their miniature wines 3 for £4 so £1.33 each and a good selection.
Off to bm tomo to look for more bits and hopefully get some hampersGood luck

That sounds a nice idea, most staff rooms have a kitty for tea etc, but if you did the posher looking teas and biscuits, sure they'd love it xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I work in a school and if we got a little hamper like that I'd be totally impressed!
I'd suggest:
- individual sachets of fancier type coffees i.e cappuccino, mocha, latte etc. Most staff rooms have bog standard coffee which is usually bluergh.
- posh biscuits - yum!
- crackers - maybe some cheese and jar of pickle?
- flavoured fruit teas
- mints for going straight to meetings
- posh crisps
Lovely idea, they will be thrilled.

I usually do something like this for my littlies school, the posh coffee's etc went down a treat last time. The first one I did was packs of ginger parkins and quality streets alternately stacked up in cellophane - looked great!!0 -
Fieryangel - HB have hampers in again at the moment, some lovely lined wicker baskets of different sizes, the largest being, well, pretty large!
For my dd's "teacher gifts" I buy cheap mugs, and fill with nice coffee / hot choc sachets, and a few "posh" chocolates. They always go down well and usually work out at only a couple of £ each too. It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0
