I think you need to lighten up a bit
  • I think Goonie has been getting rather miffed because he has not been receiving the type of reply he had been hoping for.

Instead of being inundated with forum members agreeing with his assertion that he had been mis-sold his vehicle, he has instead been told in no uncertain circumstances by the vast majority of posters that he hasn't got a leg to stand on.

And then to state in his latest post that this forum is "one place where consumers can collect together and fight back. Our job is to help keep it that way" is completely inane when there is nothing to fight back about. He then goes on to castigate and moan about some of us on this forum. I don't delude myself that he was including me in his criticism. I'm thick skinned enough to take it.

He also says in his latest post that he's been away 'on the road', so no five mile jaunt this time. Is the car suitable for what you've been using it for recently? (Or he'll be telling us he used some other car).

The heading the Op gave in his opening post was Help - Was I Mis-sold my Car? The resounding answer from the vast majority is NO! He has not received stupid comments or mickey taking, as the OP likes to infer. He's received good solid advice from numerous people who've taken the time to point out the errors in his thinking. He will also realise that when the Financial Ombudsman comes back and tells him he hasn't got a case.

I have no problem with people disagreeing or telling me that I don't have a case then fine, but there are ways to go about things and most people have gone out of their way to answer in a nasty or sarcastic way

Read your last post and the way you've gone about replying. Is there any need for the tone you've chosen or implying I'll lie about the car? No, there isn't.

'Or he'll be telling us he used some other car'

For the record, we have pool cars at work that are used for client visits with company branding so yes I did use some other car - a work car

First off I'll say that I know nothing about DPFs.

I do wonder why the car was fine for 9 months and then suffered the problem twice in July and once in August. That tells me that the choice of car was fine but something changed in June/July.

Change of journey pattern maybe? Is there a technical reason that could cause this?

This is completely taken out of context and misquoted. Read the whole post instead of a snippet.

Goonie, try not to take peoples comments personally. After wading through the sarcastic and judging comments, I'm sure you would agree that the vast majority of people here would think that that you don't have a legit case. I read your entire first post and unfortunately I highly doubt that the Ombudsman would be in your favor.

Take this as a learning experiencing. We all go through annoying things in life where we end up wasting more money and feel like we have been ripped off but the important thing is to learn from that experience so the chances of repeating itself are lower.

Buying cars is always a tricky business as there is always a risk of something going wrong. Even though a car may have low mileage and full service history there will always be a chance that something may break. I have bought several used cars and once the test drive and service history checks out, the first thing I do is get a trusted mechanic to look it over. Then once I have bought the car, I'd get my mechanic to give it a full service (oil change, filters etc) just to give me the confidence that everything will be okay. When it comes to cars, preventative maintenance and following service intervals as per manufacture guildines will save you money in the long term.

Goonie, on second thoughts, I'm sorry to say but your ignorance does truly astound me. The garage that you dealt with seemed VERY VERY nice, not many garages would do what they did in order to help you out.

You say that you did research prior to purchasing your car but its pretty evident that you really did not. I purchased my used Audi TDI (that's diesel for your information) a little over a year ago without knowing A THING about petrol and diesel cars. Within 20 minutes of searching on Google I was aware of DFPs and the pro's and con's of petrols and diesels.

YOU made the wrong decision, accept responsibility, you cannot solely blame the sales man. He is not legally obliged to tell you about the DPFs and how many miles you do etc, it is up to ourselves to gain a bit of perspective on the subject before conversing with salesmen and purchasing a high value asset.

Britain does have a blame culture and Goonie it is people like you, that causes this sort of vile culture in our society. Live with your car or sell it and buy another.

    Bipolar by any chance?

What was the point in leaving your first post only to write your second? You have edited your first post after you've edited your second so why not just remove the first altogether if you'd changed your opinion?

But yes I'm responsible for Britain's blame culture and it's all my fault. God must be missing all his angels when they're all too busy posting on here
