Ok....feeling a bit puzzled :think:
When I did SW successfully before, Chow Mein was always the thing to have from the Chinese Takeaway - I'm sure it was only 12 syns so I used to have half a portion of that and some boiled rice. I'm sure it was what was always spoken about at group as being the best thing to have?
I've just looked in the book and now Chicken Chow Mein is 16 syns (I would assume that would be the same for veggie as well as chicken), and blackbean sauce and oyster sauce only seem to be 4/5 syns. Has this changed or have I always been doing this wrong? :eek:
I'm not sure if it's changed - but it makes sense to me that blackbean and oyster sauce would be less syns than chow mein, as chow mein is swimming in oil whereas they're just chicken in a sauce I'm sure there's some oil but no where near as much... it surprises me that chow mein is only 16!

I do remember there was announcement from on high that the syns in chow mein had been changed.As mentioned,it could be that ingredients/sauces have changed,or it may have been wrong in the first place.
I am not sure how it is decided to change the syn value of products,but it does happen every now and again.Our leader has always says that if what you have always done is working,then keep doing it.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

When I joined chicken chow mein was 7.5 syns
It changed earlier this year and I still count it as 7.5 tbh I was losing weight eating it and counting it as 7.5 so that's what I'll continue to do xxx

Somebody I know just told me they lost 11lbs in 3 weeks on SW. So I'm thinking... can I please have a slice of that hommity pie?
I used to do this in 2004 and lost a few lbs then, but stopped because I found my super active lifestyle was keeping the pounds off anyway. I am no longer in a place where I can walk all the way to work (which was a huge help) and running a secondary sedentary job on the side so am in the danger zone again now.
Ah... the weight at which I 'joined' SW back then, was 13lbs lighter than now... :eek:
So, I need to lose 14lbs to squeak within the healthy range. Please may I join you and that be my target?

I think it's generally to do with manufacturers changing recipes err... improving them!
I seem to remember there was a big fuss when Alpen changed their recipes but I think they changed them back by popular demand.
When I was getting to target WW bread was 3 slices for a HEB so a piece of toast at breakfast and a sandwich at lunch. But that changed.:o0 -
Thanks for all the replies......I actually prefer black bean and oyster sauces anyway!! Going back to basics with the books has definitely been a good idea for me - think I was working off a "make it up as you go along" theory earlier this year, maybe that explains why I never got anywhere!

In the interests of honesty I need to update...
As my boss was popping out of the office I jokingly asked him to bring me back a Magnum. He did. It was lush
I therefore need to add 13.5 Syns for that taking my Syn total to 20.5. However, I came in well under yesterday so I'm not too bothered.0 -

With the end of my holiday in sight, I've decided I'm going to try my best with SW so will try to post on here again, share my menus etc. I've not really done anything for a few months and my weight has crept up again. Silly me.0
