Oh frogga, your post made me:eek: How could anyone be so horrid to our poor frog.:A I agree that it depends how you'd feel about the potential outcome. You've kept things civil for all these years, I'm guessing because of your dad. If you feel you've come to the end of the road then I would write that letter. You don't have to say you're short of money. We stopped buying gifts for adults a few years back. It was DD1's idea. It was mainly because DD2 had this propensity for buying tat and DD1 hates 'stuff'. I know DD2 was sad about it but she accepted it and still buys tat for her friends and in laws just not for us. So either write that letter or if you think it would alienate your dad (and you don't want to risk that) just make a cursory gesture (wine & flowers?) and put their tat in the bin or give to charity shop.
Back later, but couldn't read and run.0 -
Aww frogga hugs Hun, how awful for you. As people have already said it depends on what you want regarding your Dad if you don't want to risk the relationship with him then I wouldn't write that letter. I can see though that you need to stop the presents, they are a source of upset that you can do without. How about writing a letter something like you have been reading a lot about the need for food banks increasing and that you have decided not to buy presents this year but will donate the money instead and ask her to do the same.Slimming World at target0

Brilliant idea.. you could say as you know she is such a wonderful "Christian lady" you thought she would prefer you to give to the less fortunate instead.
If she's a member of a church then I assume that they'd have a food bank - most churches around here do!Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Hi Frogga, what is your relationship like with your Dad? Like others have said, do you want him in your life? Could you not just speak to your Dad on his own? Have a heart to heart with him and tell him how you feel. He may not be aware of what the [STRIKE]!!!!![/STRIKE] witch is sending. I don't think your Dad is likely to leave her, sounds just like my family member and what he did all because of a [STRIKE]!!!!![/STRIKE] cow he can't say no to. She wouldn't take his youngest son in when he moved in with her so poor kid would have been on the streets (probably been dead by now) if my sis hadnt taken him in. Some Dad he turned out to be.
As for you, if you can't speak to him then just bin the gift and. Don't sendanything in return. They will soon get the message.
P.s. Get Mr frog to check said gift before binning just in case there's a miracle and the gift is something niceIts not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

well done on reaching your target just the two
Missed loads on the thread again this week. My work load lessons next week thankfully!
Went off plan the worst I have ever done (apart from on holiday this week) Fried chicken, chips, full bag of twirl bites and a massive massive slice of cheese cake were consumed.
It was the day before weigh in so I am sure I will see the effects of it at my next weigh in.

Good to see losses still coming in. :Ttazzy and anyone else I've missed. Oooh just remembered LL beat your DH so :T for that!!
I've had a strange day, seemed to be dashing around all over the place before sorting out food shopping. Seems strange because I actually needed very little as we're away most of next week. On my travels I went to Home Bargains (new to us) and got jalapenos in brine and more jars of mushrooms, they're a bargain at 29p and great added into casseroles. Bought a Schwartz chicken curry slow cooker mix in Asda so that's bubbling away as I 'speak' with one of the aforesaid jars of mushrooms added. Smells gorgeous and I'd prefer to make it today to let it marinate overnight. Also in Asda, a large top side beef joint ready to cut up for freezer. can't remember exact price but less than £4 per kg (as seen on TV;)). Then to Sainsbury's where wine syns are 25% offbut got some YS meat (lamb shanks, pork chops) for freezer while I was there. Just thought I'd share as it is possible to do SW quite mse.
So today's EE menu:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB toast, HEA milk, baked beans
L: just grabbed a couple of slices of ham!SW burger, mushy peas, tomatoes, fried onions, mushrooms, SW chips
Syns: squirt of sauce, scrape of spread and wine syns:j
SFs a bit thin on the ground but I'll try to do better tomorrow.0
