  • By you lot have done a lot of nattering today :D

Welcome to our new people :hello:

Well done to losers :T and hang on in there stsers (?) and gainers - we will get there.

Will be weighing in at 7.30 tonight so no doubt the ready meals will be one of the main sources of conversation. Not quite sure how I feel about the idea (probably will not be using them myself) but I can maybe see how some people may find them useful when they are stuck for time/fresh food etc. Will reserve judgement for now.

Will pop back later with this weeks wi result.

Welcome to dee, good to 'meet' you.

Glad to hear the weight is falling off you jock (is there a smiley with a green face??). How much further to target?

denise, it's probably too late for tonight but I generally oven bake some mushrooms and tomatoes when I'm doing fish, chips and peas. I do the same with burgers but generally have fried onions as well then.

ginvzt, I don't agree with what the book/website's saying about Bolognese. Unless they make it very differently to me it has loads of SFs not just free food. Apart from the mince, a stock cube and herbs mine has tomatoes, onions, peppers, carrots, mushrooms and garlic. That's at least a third SF in my (metaphorical;)) book! lois, I think SFs (and planning) are the keys to SW so I try to balance a third of what I eat across the day as SF. I almost never have any with breakfast so fit it in with other meals and top up on fruit snacks if I think I'm a bit short.

I can see how mfp can help. I think the very act of knowing you're going to have to 'write' it down can stop you making bad choices. A bit like a spending diary.

greentiger, I can see that there's not a lot of logic in wholemeal bread to how syns compare with a HEB. So 2 small slices 6 syns but one large 5 when they both count as a HEB. I suppose you're getting more syns for your money having 2 small ones but I tend to buy the large loaves as they're better value.

On the ready meal debate, I'll probably reserve judgement too. I can't see them being hugely expensive if they're in Iceland's freezers next to the WW meals. If they did things like fish or chicken in a nice sauce that was very low syn then they might be a useful standby and I can definitely see that for some people with limited time/facilities they would be very handy.

We've had our main meal early today which is unusual but the only time we could eat together. tazzy's mince recipe was delicious and so easy as I cooked it on Saturday in SC, so just reheated on the hob.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB porage with HEA milk
L: savoury mince (mushrooms, onions, carrots) with new potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli
D: not hungry yet but anything I snack on will be SW friendly!!
    Syns: squirt of syrup

I'm feeling quite bloated and just keeping fingers crossed that I'm staying within target range. No WI for me this week and more meals out but I'll keep plodding.:)

Okay, so I haven't been on here in 3/4 days and have just read goodness knows how many pages!

I've also not taken in names but welcome to those new to the thread and congrats on the losses :T

Really not sure about this ready meal idea.

Anyhow. I'm reporting in from awol. Have had a busy few days, not eaten properly (next to no superfrees and lots of bread and butter to fill me up instead). Not happy with myself as I know I can do better and I will never shift the rest of this weight if I don't stick to plan :(

On the plus side, I went out and bought jeans and a new top in size 14 and they fit really well. Wouldn't even have dreamed of looking at that size a few months back :D

I am now on day one of week three and have ate the following...

Breakfast - Apple, banana, blue berries topped with fat free fromage frais.
Lunch - Baked beans on toast with 5 cherry tomatoes.
Dinner - Butternut squash and sweet potato soup.
I am taking some dried noodles to work with me for a snack later.
I have allowed 300ml of skimmed milk for tea (A) and my toast was made with 2 small slices of Hovis (B).
I think everything else was free (correct me if I am wrong) apart from olive oil which I used when making the soup and have put down 5 syns to account for this.

Hi to all new people, and well done with all the losses - really impressed. I am doing ok except that I was grabbed by a desire for chocolate and have just eaten a bar of Cadbury's winter wonderland, ach.

My concern about SW/Iceland is that I feel ready meals are often poor quality ingredients dressed up for max profit and this won't be any different. They use lovely descriptions ('fresh/hand picked/wild/rich') but the base ingredients are really cheap.

I was going to say you haven't had much food but if you're having 4 small meals I suppose that's OK.

As you haven't had any meat then today could easily be a Green Day which means you could have 2 HEAs and 2 HEBs. So Bread (wholemeal not just ordinary Hovis) and olive oil (tbsp.) as HEBs and milk (so far) as HEA. You have a HEA spare. And what about some nice syns?? What's your idea of a treat?:)

Quick catch up.... Yes my understanding is the superfree element of your plate doesn't have to be in the meal so eg fruit after\before.

And Iceland and slimming world. Not convinced.

Hi Maman and thank you for your post. I am doing SW at home on my own as I work when my local classes are run and am not 100% sure what I am doing yet. I have ordered a starter pack but am still waiting for it to arrive and am at present going off information gained from the internet.
In the way of treats I adore Cheese, most varieties, Onken fat free strawberry yogurt, Tesco Scotch pancakes, Cadburys chocolate and Toblerone, and I can't say no to jam roly poly and custard!

    Hey Shala :)

so how would people actually learn how to cook? Instead they will just be using the microwave. SW bang on about eating fresh - its their brand ethos and this frozen meal range is hypocritical. Its one of the plus points of SW - the fact that they advocate cooking and eating fruit & vegetables.

I just dont agree with the frozen food aspect - it just takes away from what SW is all about. I think if it was chilled i would probably have a different opinion. I just see this as a ££££ making exercise.

Agreed, but there are a certain amount of people who just don't want to learn to cook.. Or people who don't have the facilities. If you have no interest in cooking then I imagine it's the last you want to do when you get in from work.

I was chatting about the ready meals to one of the girls at work and she said her friend picked WW over SW just because she knew she could have the ready meals provided.. For her it made the plan simpler to understand.

It isn't the way I choose to eat and I'm sure it's not the way a lot of us do, but for some people it will be the answer.

Again, I'm reserving judgement until I see them.

I wonder if the consultants will now have a freezer to sell the ready meals next to the hi-Fi bars :rotfl:

Off to finish working and then I'm checking out those Instagram pages!!:j food p0rn :j
