A bit of advice for those of you who find you have thin gravy at the end - use about half the amount of liquid you normally would. If you worry it would get too dry then use the usual amount but at the end ladle out as much as you can and then reduce it down in a saucepan before stirring back into the SC.

A change of plan for lunch today as the lamb in gravy hadn't defrosted! As the jacket potato was already on I just warmed up 1/2 tin of baked beans and had those on top of the potato. Followed by an apple and a couple of satsumas.

    helloooo

Mich - it used to be 56g of the crusty wholemeal mix was a heb.. they've probably changed the recipe since i last did it though and it's not a heb anymore :( it does mean the 11 syns per 100g dry sounds about right though..

Hi Erin, barneydee - welcome.. well done on your weight losses so far :T

Thanks maman and mich for your suggestions, will give them a go... i'm not a fan of egg at work, nor are my colleagues :rotfl: oh well.. :o

RFD - the packs of fresh cooking ingredients is a brilliant idea, however, i guess that wouldn't be as cost efficient for us or them. I'm sure the ready meals will entice more people as some people are scared/unable to cook..

Well green day for me i think..

B - yogurt, banana, cereal bar (heb)
L - potato skins, carrot batons, minty quark dip
T - spag bol pasta bake - pasta, mince(heb), peppers, mushrooms, tomato, cheese (hea)
S - 2 cups of tea (2) crisps (5) little twix thing (2) NAS squash, pepsi max

Enjoyed my carrot batons, although they were a bit dry, i feel stuffed and they've taken me ages to eat.:D

    Right back to work...
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

    .

    Hey Shala :)

so how would people actually learn how to cook? Instead they will just be using the microwave. SW bang on about eating fresh - its their brand ethos and this frozen meal range is hypocritical. Its one of the plus points of SW - the fact that they advocate cooking and eating fruit & vegetables.

I just dont agree with the frozen food aspect - it just takes away from what SW is all about. I think if it was chilled i would probably have a different opinion. I just see this as a ££££ making exercise.

Phew.. Thanks for that.. Was worried I had gone over.. I don't do them often as a faff making the sauce and dough but nice every now and then!

I was a bit against the idea of the ready meals initially, seems to go against the SW ethos of cooking healthy meals from scratch... But can see they will help many.. Might even give them a try myself for work as am often stuck if I don't have leftovers or something prepared..

From looking at pics of people's meals on Instagram the ready meals will surely be a better choice for some as I often see little or no SF's on plates! - I guess it's what suits you.. I'll still cook fresh at home, wouldn't change that as it's become a way of life I'm happy with!

Saw a reply from SW on the FB post that the meals will all be syn free.

I think the Iceland partnership will make them a lot cheaper than they would have been in the likes of Tesco or Asda, more affordable, more sales? :p

All the talk of slow cookers has made me pull mine out.. Mustard chicken and bacon stew on the go (EE all in one book) ;) smells delicious! http://instagram.com/p/vgNClgmjRy/

Yes, she does.. Always so colourful too.. I hate seeing 'beige' plates of food :D.. Here's another good account I follow http://instagram.com/lemonymoon1
  • Not sure a few ready meals should be a big announcement, oh well. Each to their own and they probably lose a lot of custom to WW because of the lazy element of some people.

That being said, its fairly obvious they do dodgy deals with food companies to lower their syn values. There is no logical reason why a mullerlight is free.

As for a third of your plate rule, I try to do it where appropriate. If it isn't, I still stick to the thirds rule, I just leave an empty third on my plate

those two instagram links are great, thanks for sharing.

Well, I am getting plenty of exercise, up and down the ladder, painting DD's bedroom, I am sweating up a storm. Still sore from yesterday's painting so stopping for today, have so much other stuff to do and I am sitting here, leisurely reading the thread, lol oops

Making butternut sq soup and pasta with cubed ham and leeks, peppers, broccoli and a tomato sauce for tea. Trying to minimise the syns as had a few too many of those at the weekend and WI is on Wed. That will dominate Wed's class won't it, the new ready meals? Oh joy!! I better bite my tongue as everyone will be ooohing and awwwing cause I agree that SW is about eating fresh cooked food but we shall see.

Right, I better get on with it, can't believe it is nearly 2.30 already..
