Hi have just found the SW thread on here while looking up some syn values. I started the Slimming world diet 2 weeks ago as I need to lose 4 stone and set myself a target of losing one stone by Christmas. My first two weeks have been......

    Week 1. 9lb lost
    Week 2. 5lb lost

.....which obviously means I have hit my target already and I am delighted but I know that I cannot expect my weight loss to be anything like the above in the future and also realise that I am going to need to work hard on keeping myself motivated when I see the scales recording loses of 1 or 2lb a week after such a good start. I hope by turning to this forum I can keep my motivation going during the good and bad times!

Can anyone help provide some ideas of the types of superfrees they have with their dinners/lunches? I'm really struggling as I don't like much but I'm getting really bored of salad...

It's hard for me to comment as I generally eat my lunch at home so it doesn't have to be portable. If you have the facilities at work what about vegetable soup or making a pasta salad with salady bits (spring onion, tomato, cucumber, pepper) stirred in. Both are a lot more substantial for winter than salad. Or what about the trusty frittata/ Spanish omelette? Or using your HEB for a sandwich?

CP, I think you should give yourself a huge pat on the back for the 3lb loss!!:A Until your blip with the crisps you've obviously been doing everything just right. The crisps haven't caught up yet but you have all the week to rein that back by staying 100% on plan and keeping the syns in check to compensate. I really can vouch for the fact that you will feel better and better about yourself as the pounds go. As beamie says, Keep plodding.;)

Greentiger, I don't understand how a large slice of wholemeal is two thirds of a HEB. What have I missed?

Good to see you posting MrsR. I think you're the most brilliant example of how SW can be done with limited facilities. You're amazing.:) When's your weekend in Penzance or have I missed it?

Just having a quick catch up in bed :p

Shala.. The crustless and mini quiches are handy too for a lunch, can add whatever veg you like.. I particularly like grated courgette and carrot in a crustless one.. Cous cous with roasted veggies.. Or this is nice, was in one of this little booklets you get in the mags http://instagram.com/p/usUvGuGjRF/ can dig to the recipe if you'd like?

CP, I had another crisp / choc blip at work.. Was fed up after that STS and my scales are showing a big gain if I don't get my act together for Thursday I'll be so fed up but just carry on eating!.. Am off work for a week now so in control of what food is available!.. Good luck for a better week x

Welcome to the thread Erin.. Fab start!

Mich, your pizza looks really tasty.

Hello erin. You’ll like it here.

maman, according to the list I got when doing SW online (you know, the one that disagrees with everyone usually, lol), 2 slices of wholemeal bread from a 400g are a hexb and are 6 syns. A slice of wholemeal bread from an 800g loaf is 4 syns, so does that not mean 1 and a half slices from big loaf is hexb? It’s not the thick sliced one. Every crumb is a prisoner,

I never knew this thread existed wow!!! I have only read partly through what an inspirational lot you are!
I would love to join in as I feel I need all the support I can get at the mo, I joined sw in February & to date I have lost 2 stone 8 but am at that yo yo stage where 1 week I loss the next I put on plus the class I belong to know I have not got a car it is hard to get to with the hours I work but I have asked my boss if I can do different hours on my way in day ( I work in a supermarket ) so I will be going back next week as I don't have the will power to do it on my own, plus we have a great leader (who has been doing it for 17 plus years) who has lots of great food ideas & brings in lots of food tasting dish.
So hopefully you will let me join, I still want sorry, need to loss an other 3 stone

  • Schwarzer do a slow cooker range of mixes, the Chicken Curry one is delicous and is 4 syns for the whole slow cooker full, very nice, just follow the recipe on the packet.

Weight seems to be dropping off me this week, not really sure why. I was dreading the scales this morning and down to 14st 8lb, I gave myself 20 flexible syns and ate 10 celebrations last night.

Shame I cannot go to group this week, as away with work, just getting a quick weigh in at the early morning session then dashing off.

Got the stuff to make some braised red cabbage in the SC so going to start that off after breakfast.

    Another EE day today:

B - scrambled eggs on toast; couple of satsumas
L - LO roast lamb, jacket potato, steamed mixed veg. They'll be a little bit of gravy as the lamb was frozen in gravy! Will count 1 syn as I'll scrape most of it off 'cos I don't really like gravy.
    D - HM cod, chips & peas.

Bit low on SFs but don't really know what else to have with fish and chips except peas (DH doesn't like the mixed veg and I don't really want it twice in one day!).

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread

Syns - gravy 1; fruit split 3. Not sure what else if anything.

I've got a total of 32.5 syns to use for Mon - Wed so about 11 a day.

I've got a Tefal Rice Cooker, which despite the name is actually a very good slow cooker and can be used to cook porridge and as a steamer, so very useful. I use it a lot, but not for cooking rice!

I got Tefal one too, bought about 7 years ago!!!!! I love it, we use it for rice, stews, steaming. It makes lovely savory rice - there were some recipes in the booklet with it.

Mrs_Ryan - that consultant sounds like a nightmare!!!!!!

broke my own rule and had a cheeky weigh in this morning when my usual day is Wednesday and showing a gain. Proper put me on a downer. Everything crossed Wednesday is better.

I am the "cheat" and jump on the scales most morning and more... After last weeks STS, the scales were not comlying for the rest of the working week and were showing a small gain until Saturday - when they have suddenly showed a loss of 2lb!!!! My WI day is on Tuesday (tomorrow), so trying to be good today. So, don't get disheartened, just keep on it.

Re Myfitnesspal - I tried it now for three days and it helps me in that I can control myself better. And remember to drink, as I am trying to log in my water intake. I noticed over the last few weeks, that I will have WI on Tuesday, then on Saturday the scales will show a nice losss, then over the weekend god knows what happens and on Monday I am heavier than before. Then try and recoup on Monday to get a decent result on Tuesday. So, but recorning my foods and exercise this weekend, I managed to stay on track. We had charity event at friends house on sunday - family yoga and we brought cakes. I made lemon drizzle muffins night before, and could import recipe to myfitnesspal to calculate calories and since I promised myself I will record all the food for now, I only had one mini-muffin. And on sunday, there were loads of cakes, but again, I only had one small muffin, and then fruits - apple, banana, clementine. I went out afterwards with my friend to a cafe, as we wanted to plan our meals for the holiday and had a vegetarian lentil hot pot, which was really lovely and filling, and full of veg, left biscuit I got with my tea - quite pround of myself!

I know SW does not count calories, but it is not the calories I am concerned about - if I don't need to write down/record what I eat, it simply goes in my mouth without me realising it. But, if I have to make a not, I stop and think - should I have a cake, banana or apple? Well, maybe apple is a better choice for my waistline!!!!

And I have to say, I am feeling slimmer, even after the small loss I had since the begining of October - I only lost about 4kg (9lb), but my waist is definitely smaller, I can finally fit in some more trousers that had to be hidden in the wardrobe for months.

So, thank you all for the support!!!!!

    Menu today

B: Soft boiled egg (one, because my son stole the other one from me), small lemon muffin (6 syns), coffee with milk (1/3 HeA)
L: Jacket potato (140g) with baked beans (150g - HeB?)
D: probably some gammon with veg. A bit of chees to top up the HeA, if not used in coffee through the day.

    Snacks: free fruits at work

Question: Can I call this a red day if I say the potato and beans both are healthy extras B? The potato is about 140g, so that would be just under 2/3 of healthy B, and bleans are 150g - which is slightly more than 1 healthy B, so a total of 1 2/3 of healthy B for a day? Then gammon is a free food tonight and will fill up on the veg.
