Hi all and welcome to the newbies ;)

Well the big announcement has been made.. Getting mixed reviews over on FB from the quick look I've had.. off to have a proper read on the comments

"We’re delighted to announce news of an exciting development for early 2015 – the launch of a small (but perfectly formed!) range of frozen meals in Iceland stores across the UK and Ireland.

This is a careful and well-measured ‘toe in the water’ with a quality food range, because at Slimming World we’ve always been famous for encouraging our members to cook healthy, filling meals from scratch. Cooking tasty, slimming meals for you and the family is, and always will be, at the heart of Food Optimising - it’s why we have so many delicious Food Optimising recipes in our recipe books, online and in our magazine and why we encourage members to share their favourite food ideas in group.

However, for many years now members have told us they’d love to have a range of filling, delicious Free Food meals which are more convenient, as additional support for those times when life gets in the way - as it does for all of us - when we’re just too busy to cook, when we’re hungry, the family are hungry - and we’re more likely to go off track and reach for a less nutritious ready meal or takeaway.

So to help you at those times when you really need a quick option, we’re in the final stages of creating some new meals that we believe will be the very best slimming meals available – packed with premium quality Free Food, surprisingly filling, incredibly healthy and wonderfully delicious, great value and in generous portion sizes. They’ll be of a quality and value you’d expect from Slimming World – the best!

We’ll be sharing more news with Consultants and with you, our members, in the build up to the launch of the new range early in 2015, so keep a look-out in group, online and on Facebook. When you try them we’re sure you’ll be delighted (and very full!)

With our very best wishes to all our members from everyone at Slimming World"

I have just seen that as well Mich-city. Our leader posted it on our fb page. The big announcement..... SW is going to do ready meals.

The thing that gets me is that they make such a big fuss that it is for members etc. but they just want to keep up with WW and make profits. They say it is for hungry and busy families, so ready meal for 4 is it?

I shall keep my full judgement to myself until I see the meals and the ingredients in them, salt content etc. and how many syns will be in them.

I thought it would be something to do with the plan, syn changes or something like that. Oh well,

Lois Lane, I think it is ok if you have your super free foods on the side, as it is not always going to fit on the same plate!

Alsoo, you don't have to have superfrees with every of your meals,

Superfree Foods are those foods that are really low in energy density (calories per gram) and that are also great for satisfying your appetite – a slimmer’s dream!

Including a third of a plate of Superfree Food at mealtimes – where it makes sense – will ensure that your weight loss stays fast, effective and very motivating.

There is no need to add Superfree Food to Healthy Extra meals, because there’s already a control built in. Beans on toast? The toast is either a Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice or Syns. You don’t have to add Brussels sprouts or cabbage or lettuce or cucumber etc – unless of course you want to.

Spag Bol? This is a Free Food meal, so if you want to serve a smaller portion and make room on your plate for a nice crisp salad or fresh veg, that’s great, but it’s not a requirement, it’s a choice – a choice that depends on how fast you want to lose weigh.

  • Hello :)

does anyone else think that frozen ready meals is a daft idea given that SW actively promote eating fresh/cook from scratch? Would it not have made more sense to have a range that is similar to the M & S count on us/fuller longer range? or perhaps a range that is similar to the hello fresh idea? (ie in that it has all said ingredients in pack - you just cook them yourself with the recipe that is in the pack)

    http://www.hellofresh.co.uk/

Could i also be cheeky and ask someone to check on syn values for the M & S BBQ sliced chicken is please? Its 130g for the pack.

    Thank you

  • Hi All!
I've not been on here much lately as I've been pretty busy with work over the last week, plus I'm hosting a charity quiz night on Thursday, which has taken up way more of my time than I envisaged! I lost another 2.5lb last week though, getting my 1 stone award, so I was delighted with that and am hoping for a similar result this Wednesday.

I'm just catching up on everyone else's posts over the last couple of days:
erin28 - Wow, that's a fantastic start! You must be so pleased with yourself :)
Flat Eric - I love my slow cooker but have the same problem as you with sauces being too thin, so I often ending up using a few syns to add some corn flour or gravy granules.
Louis Lane - That breakfast casserole looks lovely. I'm definitely going to give it a go next weekend.
