  • Hi Lois and welcome to the thread :)

been up since 07.30 and sill not eaten...no motivation or inspiration at all :/

can anyone help me with the syns in Ready Brek - both original and chocolate? When I google it just comes up with much older threads and some suggesting 28g original + 1 ryvita original was a HeB (?)

I'm going to quickly defrost a chicken breast and chuck it in the slow cooker with some veggies to cook for tea - seen a lot online recently saying slow cookers aren't just for soup and stew so need to try that!

Amazing, nic! Well done, LD, beanie, Maisie

Mich, sorry your fishy week hasn’t worked – maybe there will be a time lag. I’m doing fishy week too, so I have my fins and flippers crossed!

Maman, I’m impressed that you turned down that fish supper!

Oh dear, ginvzt, I am most definitely NOT a lark! Quite the opposite - and I am confessing that on Thursday night (?) I went to bed at 5am. Normally bedtime’s about 3 and I get up at 8.30 (long lie since I’m retired now).

Hiya, Lois. Pleased to meet you.

Well, fishy Friday went quite well. I didn't have my bread and jam or my choc digestive, so that saved 6 syns. I had bread and butter (3) with my kipper, I had 5 for my lemon mousse, then I visited my friend and had 2 garibaldis -forgot how much I like these - for 4 syns. Unfortunately, my friend is a smoker and I felt the smoke was clinging to me when I got home (she actually goes out of her house to smoke, at least when I'm there) and my mouth tasted horrible, so I had a 6 syn mint choc biscuit to take the taste away. I know, toothpaste might have done the job just as well! That meant I used 18 syns yesterday.

    Today's Menu
Breakfast: smoked salmon & scrambled egg on toast
    Lunch: cullen skink, fruit salad
    Dinner: tuna jacket & salad
No syns planned - 15 to play with!

Football today - expecting a heavy defeat, so chocolate may be required!

Hi lush. Ready Brek is 4,5 syns for original, chocolate or honey.:)
  • Lots of you are talking about slow cookers. Is there a particular would you would recommend. I am thinking of investing in one

Welcome lois. You've made an excellent start. Just ask if there's anything you need to know about the plan. You might get different answers on here than in your group.;)

Hope you enjoy the game greentiger. I was only thinking this week about the little treats that have crept in in the name of maintaining. I'm still in target range but I would dearly love to shift a few pounds to get to the bottom. One thing was the obligatory half a Crunchie at half time. I can't believe I spent a whole season eating satsumas! It was the season we were promoted to the Championship. Maybe if I went back to the satsumas we'd win the Premiership!!:D

    Enjoy your carvery denise.:)

I'm going to make a pot of savoury mince today for the freezer. I'll probably do it in the SC as then it won't matter if I go out.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB toast, baked beans, HEA milk
L: probably JP with cottage cheese and beetroot
D: SW lamb hotpot with cabbage
Syns: scrape of spread, weekend wine:T I think there are a couple n the hotpot (granules) and I probably won't remove all visible fat as I'm using chops not cubes.

My new one is a morphy richards sear and stew which I'm loving as you can put it on the hob to heat it up to sear any meat then transfer it to the base unit to do the slow cooking meaning you get all the meaty goodness. plus its a gazillion times lighter than any slow cooker I've had/used before :)

I've got a Tefal Rice Cooker, which despite the name is actually a very good slow cooker and can be used to cook porridge and as a steamer, so very useful. I use it a lot, but not for cooking rice!

DH and I are in Spain, we come here every winter, so attending a group isn't an option. I bought a starter pack on ebay. Finding suitable foods in the shops is a bit of a problem but there's no shortage of fresh fruit and veg, and salads are always available if we eat out.
