  • My aim is to lose another 7lb by 21st December to make a total of one stone loss.

I know this week I will have gained. It is typical of me - I manage really well for the first two weeks, then sabotage myself. This time however I will simply accept that I have "missed a week" of the plan and start again as of today. I can't beat myself up or I will give up.

    Meal plan for today:
    breakfast - porridge with fruit
Lunch - jacket potato with tuna. salad.
Dinner - I'm batch cooking today for the freezer so it will be something with rice and salad.
Snacks - carrot or celery sticks with fat-free cottage cheese which I will add some flavour too.
  • Does anyone get the urge to eat late at night?

I find myself feeling desperate for something just before bed, or watching TV late, or when I get in after a night out, or even after I go to bed.

I am not really hungry as it used to happen before I started the plan and could be when I came home from eating a three-course meal.

Before the plan I would have grabbed the cheese and crisps, or bread and butter.
Now I try to keep a hard-boiled egg in the fridge.

It is really odd but at times like these I could eat huge amounts.

Does anyone else feel like this? How do they combat it?

yes, I do, big time. That is where I always end up sabotaging the plan.

Eat a lovely, filling evening meal, tidy up etc and then watch some telly etc. Around 9ish the cravings start, go into the fridge, mmm what can I have? I wrap some ham around a gherkin, eat that. Then I want more and more. :o

I try and keep my HEb and syns for evening time so I can have crackers or toast or something filling cause I can just go on munching until I go to bed in disgust.

What can we do to overcome this? I have a knitting project, go to bed early etc to break the pattern, but I still feel the need to snack... Suggestions very welcome.

Last night was a typical example. Saturday night, Dr Who. DD and her girlfriend had brought in snacks for themselves and sat happily munching away. Mmmm I think, I shall have some quavers, 4.5 syns, had some gherkins and ham, then the chocolate came out, had a few Roses, got offered a flap jack, turned that down but when she offered me jelly babies, I happily munched on them. I just can't control myself once I start.

Anyway, this needs to stop big time cause it makes me feel like a failure.

    Today's menu EE
    B: egg, beans, mushrooms
L: not sure, tuna with some salad maybe
T: roast chicken, roasties and lots of veg.

Trying to keep low on the syns, will have some gravy though

fruit for snacks. I bought these honey crunch apples, they are so lovely, specially straight out of the fridge...

    Have a good day everyone

    That's a brilliant loss swiper!:T
Welcome PG.:) I think SW fits well with mse as we're not wasting money on loads of ready meals and rubbish.

Does anyone get the urge to eat late at night?

Fortunately I'm not a snacker so mostly my meals satisfy me but if I have an early supper then it's good to keep things in the fridge. I have been known to make a JP as late as 11 p.m but mostly I'm satisfied with cold meat or I quite like cold new potatoes. The hard boiled eggs ar a great idea. Another favourite is cottage cheese in a bowl with an apple diced into it. Somehow eating it with a spoon is more satisfying than eating an apple on its own.

I do succumb to about 3 syns worth of 70% chocolate every night. It's part of my 'settling down after supper' routine. DH clears the kitchen then brings me tea and we share a 25g bar.:o It's only something I've introduced since maintaining but so easy to see off 15 syns a week.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk
L: JP with cottage cheese, spring onion and beetroot
D: roast beef, SW roast potatoes and parsnips, cabbage, cauli, broccoli, carrots
Syns: gravy, squirt of HP sauce, tsp of horseradish, weekend wine:j

I'm going to try making the gravy from the HB braised steak recipe which is almost syn free. If it doesn't work then it'll be the usual HM with meat juices.

I asked the group leader about the countdown book offer, she said as I'd been given the wrong info the previous week she would honor it, so I bought countdown & got xmas book.

I always eat late at night!! As soon as the children are in bed (I'm a single mum), I could eat for England!! Chocolate, crisps, cheese, etc etc etc the list goes on. I know that's what is making me gain weight, but I haven't been able to stop it... Today is my first day of sw, so I plan on keeping myself busy this evening. I have a ton of marking and prepping to do, so this should help. Failing that, I'll go to bed! I like the egg idea, have wondered about a jp, but would that really be ok?

    PG x

Ps just checking that tinned tuna is free on ee? X

Late night snackers, do a platter/bowl when you make one of your meals.

I'll be doing extra carrot sticks when I make tea, that I'll have later on, with some low syn popcorn if I fancy it...

Fantastic losses this morning tazzy and swipernoswiping :T

Good luck with your new job tazzy - hope all goes well for you. We have lost similar amount so far and I know my confidence has grown with the loss (still a long way to go) - have you noticed that you are more confident?

Welcome PennyGrabber :hello: No need to apologise for asking questions - ask away and there will usually be someone around that can help.

Welcome Catcherupper :hello: I tend to save my hexs for night time - ryvitas with feta, olives and cherry toms, lf cheese on toast, porridge with milk allowance or 80g prunes are among the usual things. Like maman, I too use a few syns for choccie (couple of squares, finger of twirl etc). I use cross stitch as a bit of a distraction - keep hands occupied and stops me from putting things in my mouth (although us women are very good at multi-tasking) :)

Just had a very quick lunch as we are extremely busy today (sorting after workmen have finished) so I just grabbed baked beans and two fried eggs - hope maman doesn't read this as it was sf free but I promise to make up for it tonight - gammon in slow cooker as we speak and will have tons of veggies with it. :p

Well that's it for now will catch up with you all later.

Please don't say that you are a failure mumoftwo. You are here trying to make changes - we can do this. Would it be possible to ask family/friends to stop offering you sweets etc as once you're offered them you find it difficult to refuse. A while ago I told DH that if he wanted anything (sweets, cake etc) just to go and get it, don't offer it to me and I will not be offended). In time I got that I would feel quite virtuous while he was munching away and I stuck to plan. After saying that he doesn't have loads more treats than me, he has lost nearly 3st since I started but he hasn't really go much more to lose now whereas I have many stones to go :o
