And for the WI - I would like to report 2.5lb loss!!!

That's a great loss, well done!:T and taking the stairs is a great idea. We all sit around in cars far too much (well me anyway:o)

    Morning all

It goes a bit pear shaped after that though and I've been on the online food diary and entered what I think I will eat today and the syn total is approaching 42 syns. Hmmm.....

.....thinking about my menu for yesterday where I'm going wrong.

That's the great thing about a food diary/plan. I'm sure it's the way forward.:)

Hi, can I join you guys? :hello:

Started SW yesterday (doing it with my OH on our own) and hoping to lose 2 stone. OH has lost 6.5 stone just by healthy eating but has stalled and found she was eating less and less, so she has decided to do this with some exercise to lose some more weight. I didn't want her to be alone in this, so decided to join her.

Have bought some books off fleabay so just winging it until they arrive! Had my first bowl of porridge HEXB and HEXA, without sugar today, but added some berries. Am I right in assuming frozen berries are free even though they go all mushy when thawing out?

    CydneyX

Welcome cyd, your OH has done brilliantly well already. What an excellent start. You're right though that eating less and less is not a way forward. SW's healthy eating plan is a far more 'normal' and sustainable way of eating. Your breakfast is spot on for a HEA & HEB and despite being mushy the berries are free. However you should only have 35g of oats so hopefully you piled on the berries.;) Do feel free to ask any questions you want.

Greentiger, that AH couscous is only 1 syn for the 100g, unless you're planning to eat 2 packs!:rotfl:

No idea how my day is going to pan out today. I've had my SW breakfast (beans on HEB toast), I've prepped lunch sausage and mash (2 syns for sausages and a couple for gravy). After that anything could happen. Will report back later.

Just a reminder that there's a voucher in this week's Woman magazine to join for free (so just £5 for the first week instead of £10). So if anyone needs new books or planning to join a group now's the time to do it.
  • Morning all,

Back in the office today and rather productive so far; still looking forward to lunch when I can get outside and have a stretch though. must be back by 1.30 for a meeting my manager wants me in though so will go earlier than usual :)

    Today:
Breakfast: HeB toast with a banana and a cup of tea (milk from HeA)
Lunch: pumpkin soup (0 syn :) ) dad put the tip of a chilli in and I'm no spice lover but it didn't seem too bad when I tried in...fingers crossed it's still just 'warm'! Also a can of pepsi max and a Satsuma and an apple!
Tea: sausage casserole; made with an ASDA CBY sachet which I think is 2 syns per portion (4 portions) plus the low syn ASDA sausages which I think are 1.5syn each(? may call it 2 to be sure) so 5 syns for my portion and I'll have it with free mash (may treat bf to a giant Yorkshire)

I fancy a big bowl of hot custard tonight ( I love custard on its own!) so will check syn values when I get home and may treat myself when bf has his dessert :)

Got lots to do on my dinner break so plenty of walking to be done!

Feeling dumb. Just hit me that WI means weigh in, not women's institute. I thought some of the weight gains were because of trying everybody's homemade jam and cakes at WI meetings :rotfl:

:rotfl:Oh how I wish, would love a homemade fruit scone with homemade strawberry Jam. But you cant make just one and I dare not make a batch cos I will eat em.

Not as good as homemade perhaps but if you'd really like a cream tea then use your syns and go out to a really nice teashop and have one. That way you don't have to finish off all the scones, jam and cream that will be calling to you from the kitchen.;)

I’m so excited , de de re de de – 3lb loss for me this week, for your lovely chart Shala! Fingers crossed I can keep it going, because I’m sitting right on that stone marker and it’s cold on the b*m - I need to slide down off it!

I’m ok with Christmas chocs. I can leave them unopened quite happily. Then when I do open them I am satisfied with 1 or 2 – until there are only 6-8 left, then I have to eat them all, even if I don’t like them! I can’t figure out why I’m like that. :)

    Hello, cydney!

Jock, I had issues also with syn values – for example, I used the list of foods SW supplied and counted cream crackers as 1.5 on that list, but online they are 2. I think there will be plenty more examples of “syngate”.

Maman, don’t know where I got the syn value from, but at least it’s wrong in the right direction, IYSWIM! Do you have syn values for all the flavours? Maybe I had a different one before. Anyway, I only had half a pack, so that’s 1.5 syns saved towards tonight’s carvery - that’s some gravy, hurray! :j

pastmysellby and meg, mmmmm scones! Just yesterday I was given a recipe for clootie dumpling scones, so I’m going to have a bash at these later in the week. Maman, you are a very wise woman re going out for a treat, but I don’t know where I could get clootie dumpling scones!

    Not according to my app

    Ryvita, Crackerbread, Original 1 Syn

Didn't realise you meant the Crackerbread was looking at the Crispbreads as they are the only ones I eat. I'm not keen on the texture of crackerbread but used to eat them occasionally when you could have 6 for HEB not haven't bothered since!
