Annie, thanks for the recipe but it has beans in it so not one for me _pale_

Took some photos of my meals today to keep me accountable.. it's made me realise they seem to be a bit beige :(

There is definitely 1/3 superfree though, I would say 1/2 in my tea - carrots, beans, carrots and leek in the hotpot, banana, apple and satsuma!

The plate on the left is OH's but those are also the plates I used to use for my dinner too  no wonder i'm a fatty!!

I have a question about the red cabbage recipe maman - I don't get what you eat it with?? Roast dinners maybe?

Funnily enough I had gammon steak for tea & it was very salty :(
Imagine a gammon joint would be soaked to take out some of the salt.

Yes, that's right it makes an excellent extra side with a roast or even a 'mini roast' like sausage and mash or liver & onions.

I've got mine cooking away in the oven right now. The casserole will make 10-12 portions so I'm ignoring the minimal syns from a couple of cooked apples and a few blobs of spread/butter.

Red cabbage doesn't taste anything like green cabbage BTW. Cooked this way it's spicy and quite Christmassy.

This is the Delia recipe which I've adapted.

    http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/type-of-dish/party-food/accompaniment/traditional-braised-red-cabbage-with-apples.html

I used 3 eating apples, Lazy Garlic and 3 red onions although I have used white before. You can use red or white wine vinegar. I used a bit of both to finish off a bottle of white. Then I substitute the sugar for sweetener.

I know some people worry about using sweetener but tonight I finished off a jar of Canderel. It's the jar I bought when I joined SW in August 2011!

have done that delia red cabbage recipe in the slow cooker.. was lush!

yes, soaking the gammon gets rid of some of the salt.. I thought the one I tasted was fine.. but others commented on it being salty.. then again, I use far too much salt on my food.. :o

My red cabbage is cooling ready to be portioned up in the freezer tomorrow.:)

I'm another that likes salty food so I never soak gammon before cooking. I always do my gammon (in SC) very traditional with an onion, a couple of carrots, bay leaves and peppercorns. That makes a wonderful stock that I use for lentil and vegetable soup. It's delish. Cold gammon always freezes well. I wrap it in foil in meal sized portions. Any scraps that fall off when I'm carving go into the soup. Gammon always comes from Aldi. It's £3.99 a kilo or less.

have been on my SW journey for over 2 years now and have never tried 'diet coke' chicken.. keep seeing it mentioned and have decided I have to have a go to satisfy my curiosity.. but.. am seeing different recipes.. :p

looking for a slow cooker one really, can it be done it one? am seeing sticky bbq type sauce one or other using chinese 5-spice and served with rice.. I suppose we all tweak our favourite recipes to our own taste :rotfl:

does it really need the worcester sauce? not something I use so would have to buy some.. keeping it MSE, not sure I want to just for one recipe ;)

Toddler slept in until 6.30am today. Unfortunately baby was up just before 5am and has refused to go back to sleep. Yesterday I ate too much cheese and chocolate due to tiredness, have to try very hard not to pig out today too as I do not want a gain tomorrow.

I've been veggie for about 25 years so the gammon conversation is pretty lost on me, although I do remember it being salty and I hate salty food so I never liked the stuff. Same with bacon, never liked it. Apparently this makes me weird!

You have made me want to get the slow cooker on today and make a casserole. I've got a lot of veg in but not all the chunky stuff I would want in one so may take the kiddies to Tesco when I wake up a bit...

Hope everyone is feeling all fired up to get slinky for santa :D

Good morning everybody. I have been on the scales and I have lost 1lb. :j
So I am back on track and on my way down to 10 stone. :j
I hope this week goes even better. Believe me 1lb. is better than nothing. It is slow and frustrating but I must persevere I have another week and a half before I go to my diabetic clinic, and I need to be sure, all my blood tests and other tests go well.:) :)
