I can barely believe it. I am one of the originals on this thread – my first post was on 29/12/2009 (OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here’s the link in case you think I’m kidding (check out post 68!):

    Well done InaPickle

What shampoo do you ladies recommend for fine, flat hair that lacks a bit of oomph? Ideally I would love to purchase Kerastase Densifique but don't want to splash out too much!

If you just want to try it before committing to buy it I would go into a salon and ask if you can get a sample.

I have a couple of UU Body Shop Ginger Shampoo for Itchy Scalp - that I WNBA I struggled through this as it did nothing for me whatsoever and Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel 125ml which will be very high on the list to buy again at some point. I have had this on the go between other things for a whole year, so it has been quite good value and after using that I am rather loathe to return to having to use other drippy, foaming washes and cleansers that are in the stash. :(

  • Hi all :)

Just reporting in with an awesome discovery. Not had any body scrubs in for a long time because I like the really grainy ones like body shop but nit had the money. Recently started using bags of coffee grounds to make posh coffee at home to save money. Decided to finally try the used coffee grounds and baby oil body scrub recipe (can also use olive oil) and it's amazing! Going to save my used grounds now so I get double the usage: fancy coffee and nice body scrub!

Is this risky for blocking drains? I'm not saying it is, I just have The Fear constantly about me pipes getting bunged up :D I'll bet it smells divine!

    UU -

No 7 Cleansing Wipes. WMBA, a day after using one of these late at night I got the biggest, angriest spot ever on my chin... could be coincidence, could be the cause. They are handy to have on hand for emergencies, but they are not a staple.

Down to 48 items. Need to get rid of some fake tanning items. Not sure whether to throw away.

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

Just caught up with the thread. Well done Pickle :j I'm a long way off from graduating :o
Your post made so many good points. I totally agree about decluttering, I've been trying for about 8yrs :o - I often feel massively overwhelmed by my clutter not just toiletries.
I have so much money tied up toiletries and stuff to take to a car boot sale , but that's pointless because everyone wants stuff for nothing.
The money all adds up and as I'm still job searching it's hard to see how much money I've got laid out in shower gels/body butters, toothpaste etc etc and not actually have much cash about :o:(

    Hi asset,

I know exactly what you mean: TBH decluttering is just too much to do it all at once. The toiletries have been steadily emptying in the background and once I could see progress in that area I realised that I just had to do my best not to add to it, then use my energy in other areas. It is quietly encouraging to see one area of your life declutter and realise that you can do it in other areas of your life. Just try to do one area at a time.

I had a period of unemployment during all of this, too, and that was when the stash actually came in useful. However, I've realised that it is no excuse to have a large stash as if I live life on a 'just-in-case' basis that's the easiest way to end up cluttered. I guess it's a question of finding balance. For me, that's having 3 of my HGs in stock and rebuying them in special offers (very :money:) and just having one in stock of long lasting things to be replaces as-and-when, but perhaps different ways would work for someone else.

    Hi InaPickle

How do you make your homemade soap? I'd love to make my own.

I've only made one batch as it takes quite a while to use up (if you live on your own like I do). I was hoping to make some for Christmas presents, which would mean I should probably get making some now (). I used this recipe. It's a very simple vegetable soap recipe. Now I've tried this I may try something a bit more exotic. It's a good beginner's recipe:

Congratulations InaPickle, feels great doesn't it:T:T Although I did go a little over board in the Christmas sales...hence my new stash but I'm not buying and I didn't spend that much although its my Birthday soon and I am asking for a couple of toiletry related items but mostly expensive things like Neal's Yard that I probably wouldn't buy myself.

Yes it does! :D Ah well, so long as you didn't go *too* mad it's all good. I'm going for a quality-not-quantity policy from now...I really hope to never get a big stash again! :T

  • Another UU for me :T

L'Oreal Everrich Shampoo & Conditioner: WNBA. I hated the plastic tube thing (I did cut it open but still) plus it's like a thick paste and not like a "normal" shampoo. And the conditioner was just okay. Nothing fancy.

Congratulations and well done on your graduation InaPickle, I've added you to the graduates list on the first page. :D

Thank you! :D *Puts on mortar board and adopts a cheesy grin*

This is so true, I can't believe how long everything in my stash seems to be lasting. A shampoo lasts me months even though I have long hair and wash it several times a week, and a mini bottle of shower gel seems to go on for ages when I use it with my body polisher.

I know. It's properly , isn't it? If we weren't trying to UU our stuff ASAP we would probably be grateful for this, but when you have a backlog it seems like a bad thing! :rotfl: I hope I get to enjoy the longevity of my products now, although my current face cream seems to be getting UU at a rate of knots!

In an ideal world I would just concentrate on using up one product at a time, but I find I get bored with using the same thing after a while and I simply have to switch to something different. My other issue is that I am usually too lazy to use body moisturiser after my shower, I just want to get dressed. I really must try harder though. :o

That's probably why mine took so long to get used up! :rotfl:

Your post was really interesting as well :). I'm shocked at how long it takes to use things up but I still get tempted by things...It's wonderful that you have your own space and that you've decluttered in general. I know that I need to do the same but only seem to be able to do it a little bit at a time.

TBH, I think it's the only way...just try and focus on one area at a time. :)

Well done pickle - super proud of you!!!!

Isn't it weird how amazing it makes you feel when you suddenly realise you're finally on top of things??!!

Thanks. :) I wouldn't go so far as to say on top, but I'm certainly nearer the summit than I was! ;) I just want to finish the decluttering, start selling stuff on Ebay and get the rest of my life in order. It will feel much better when I do! :D

Well done InAPickle! You are a big inspiration and prove that you can do it, even if you have a few slip ups along the way…*ahem*

    Just a few... ;) :rotfl:
Mum is out of hospital and has been home for several weeks now. Other than that, it's difficult to tell. She's not particularly open with me and we live very far away. Thank you for asking though :)

You're welcome! I hope she is OK, anyway.

I don't have many coffee grinds but I love a bit of HM beauty therapy! I do have lots of olive oil, oats, sugar and essential oils, though, so I feel a HM body scrub coming on! :D
Brilliant tip! Coffee is also supposed to be very good for cellulite, so it's a perfect leg and bum scrub!

I heard that, too. Remember the caffeine-infused tights that were being talked of lots in news a while back? It sounds like a plan...

Right, sorry for clogging up the thread but here's my last message.

Many thanks to all of you who have congratulated me on graduating. This thread really is full of lovely people. :)

I have another UU: Corsodyl Daily mouthwash. WBA and will have to: it's a HG and I'm now on my last one.

Oh, yes, also a TBS Warming Mineral Mask. It's a perfectly good mask - nice and warming - but the clay in it means that it solidifies in the neck of the bottle and can't be squeezed out. I have still got half a tube left and have cut it open, but now that the air has got to it it's going to solidify just like it does at the hole in the bottle, so I'll have to throw it out. WNBA: what a waste!

I also have an IN! A kind friend gave me a tube of Cath Kidson Wild Flowers Honeysuckle Hand Cream. It won't get used for a while as I have other hand creams on the go, but it smells *gorgeous* through the box. *Smells deeply and appreciatively*

  • Evening all, hope everyone is having agood weekend. A day of gardening for me...at least the garden looks neat if not a little bare now. Tomorrow i'll tackle the allotment:D
Another UU here Skin Therapy 3 in 1 Fragrance Free Facial Wipes. Ooh I've been so restrained and only put a few products on my birthday list. I don't think I'll need much in the sales this year:eek: Still I will probably buy a few bits:)
Debt free and busy treating myself:)

No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales

Not sure, had wondered this myself. Probably going to be more of a weekly thing at most so I suppose all the showering in between will stop it building up. Also not that much is needed because it's so grainy :D
